my fave of those is the c. bordeaux; just wasn't quite golden enough for me. are you keeping the white appliances? if so, would be nice to have a bit of white in the granite to pull it together. i can never remember whether peacock or butterfly is the one with white.

also, think about what type of pattern you prefer. i like "big" patterns like the c. bordeaux. i came very close to getting colonial cream today( not sure how similar that is to col dream). the granite place suggested it because it is a "linear pattern" and i have narrow counters/galley kitchen. i just couldn't pull the trigger because, even though the gold tone was a better fit than the yellow river i chose, i just had to have my movement! so that is the kind of thing i would think about in your choice, too.

Glad, so did you choose a granite yet? And yes I do sort of like the movement. I had originally been thinking of very subdued tones which I still may go with, but the green kind of gave me a new thing to consider. Good point about the white of the appliances and floor...I do think it is peacock that has the white. Anyway, I would of course be looking at slabs to make sure becuase all these names are so "fluid". I think that colonial dream=colonial cream and it is gorgeous.

With the kitchen, once the wallpaper and soffits are gone, it will be a lot quieter calmer look. I am doing this for me, but we are likely going to sell in a few years... the appliances are staying for now and might change in a bit, but they are totally fine and functional. Think the greens work or think the neutrals work better?

Try covering your counters in some dark green lawn and leaf bags for a day or so - this way you can see in person if the darker color appeals to you. I think it would be lovely.

yes, grfanite names are fluid to say the least! i went with yellow river. won't be installed until feb.,though. i wanted to reserve it before picking appliances and tile.

Maybe put a darker/greenish on the perimeter and light on the island. I think that will look updated and give you some movement and some less movement (static?!?). Or if you don't want to go with 2 colors you could consider a tan/brown - not too dark, not too light...?

I really am so grateful for every suggestion. I am so worn out from trying to figure this all out. :( The 2 granites is a good compromise but then I need to "coordinate" - and everything just seems so complicated lately. Can you tell this has been delayed beyond ridiculousness?
I had originally pretty much decided on a very subtle color scheme and now due to all the delays I am rethinking ad nauseum.
But so far judging from replies here, it does seem that the dark greenish graniteish counters will work. Again, if anyone wants to photoshop any more, please feel free. the more visuals I gets the better I does.
