Kohler Stages alternative in different material?

I love the Kohler Stages sink and the versatility of it but i am not sure i want stainless stl. Are there any alternatives maybe in granite? I am also not sure that kohler sink is deep enoughÃ¯Â¿Â½.

I just got a Kohler Smart Divide Indio sink which is made of enamelled cast iron. The cutting board, colander and racks are included so that you can use it in a similar way to the Stages sinks. Not sure if that is what you are looking for. It comes in many colours. I got mine in black and really like it so far. It is nice and deep and I like that the tap mounts on the sink so very little water gets on the counter top when using it. Here is a URL to see it:

I don’t think the Stages comes with a colander, at least it didn’t when I got it. It does come with a large wood cutting board, large white tray/cutting board, small tray/cutting board, 6 ceramic prep bowls, bottom sink grid, and under counter rack. The prep bowls are well designed to both stack and be reversible, although I mostly use them with the larger size up. I like the square design because it’s easy to use a wood spatula to scrape out the contents. The bottom grid hasn’t been a problem for me. You do have to lift it up or take it out to clean the sink, but that outweighs the advantages of being able to set things on it to drain and the fact that it protects the bottom of the sink from scratches. I do wish it was in two pieces so it would more easily fit in my dishwasher. It is so big that I have angle it to get it in and it’s hard to load other items around it.

Have you thought about just keeping the mixer on a little rolling cart in the pantry? Seems simpler and also frees up more room for prep materials storage under the sink. You could keep all the sink accessories in drawers where you are currently thinking of putting the mixer.

@Amy Banta I have the Prolific and I love it. I have never felt like the 18 gauge was not enough. I agree with what suzanne_sl says. There are other sinks with accessories, but nothing else really has the lower ledges like Prolific and I get a lot of use out of the lower and middle ledges. I have some extra drain boards and I keep those on the bottom of the sink so it acts as a "grid" and I scratch the sink less. It prevents banging. Grids can be hard to clean, but the drain boards fit right in the dishwasher. I love the middle ledge for hiding drying dishes, and putting things on the top ledge is great for filling things with water and washing things. I use all the accessories in many different ways. This design is so flexible. The only thing I don't love on the Prolific is the colander accessory. I feel like it doesn't drain as well as most colanders. I might try to drill more holes in it someday to see if that helps. Everything else about the sink is great. I've had it about 1.5 years now and it is still my favorite thing in our kitchen. If you think you would enjoy the ledges at different heights like I do, I would not let the gauge be a deterrent.

@joseph_corlett Thanks so much for the info! We are building a house and I was going with a Kohler Riverby UC sink 33" but started rethinking the workstation. Not wanting to do stainless steel but thinking the bigger workstations would be nice to have more like a 45".. I have a 4 x 10' island it is going in so plenty of room I think (the second island will be just a counter height island matching the main island not as drawn). We are using Ferguson and they sell the Kohler Stages and the Ruvati so was looking at both. I loved the Gallery but it is too much and everything is over budget of course so I need to scale back. I will save your install info for future use if we go this route. But the 45" Stages really looks like it's the same "sink" size as my 33" Riverby sink but has the added ledge. Which stages is in your first pic? I think I've seen some that had a ledge added to their sink made from the same material as the counter top that had ridges in it maybe? Any suggestions on that? Thanks!

Thanks. I wasn't sure how to post a photo. My sink seems huge and I love that cookie pans and frying pans can now fit. I had a regular double SS sink before. The under mount makes so much sense too as far as being able to wipe things into the sink and not having the lip of a drop in. It's a nice deep sink.

Kohler is regularly snooping on my website for ideas. Our Signature Series sink is a better (but similar) size and is available in copper and stainless. I generally don't put links back to my site, as I don't want this forum to feel like I am trolling for sales. That is not the case at all. Since no alternative was given, I felt I should offer one rather than stay silent.

Kohler is regularly snooping on my website (I assume they are looking for ideas to use). I believe they used our Signature Series sink as a model for their Stages sink. Our Signature Series sink is a better (but similar) size and is available in copper and stainless. I generally don't put links back to my site, as I don't want this forum to feel like I am trolling for sales. That is not the case at all. Since no alternative was given, I felt I should offer one rather than stay silent. The sink shown above in white is merely exposing the flange of the sink so the cutting board can rest on it. That can be done with just about any under mount sink. There is a huge issue with that type of installation in my opinion. There is a point where the counter meets the sink. That area will constantly be bombarded with water. The seal will likely become compromised and could go unnoticed for a long enough time for damage to the cabinet to occur without you realizing it. It is also an area where caulk will likely discolor over time.
