until someone comes along here, have you done a jenn-air search in this forum -- or appliance forum? i know there have been postings about their two-oven range -- just not sure which forum i saw them in.

You should search for Jenn-Air in general - most likely the reason that you didn't get any responses on the appliance forum is that you asked about a specific model number - not too many people have Jenn-Air ranges and probably not that specific model. In general, I think you can do better than Jenn-Air although their pro-models are a lot better than their standard ones.

I have that range and love it. I like the continuous grates on top. No wobbling pots! I love the warming drawer. It has a "rapid preheat" function that I use almost daily. It bakes like a dream, and the btu's on the cooktop are just fine for how we cook.

I know JA gets a bad rap on the appliance forum, but honestly, we're talking about a lot of folks who do some *serious* cooking. All brands will have their foibles, but for moderate cooking, JennAir can be fine. We bought all JA appliances for our last kitchen remodel and never had one problem with them.

If you have any specific questions about this model, just post them and I'll try to give you specific feedback.

So far, I've LOVED this range.

dd - I am very pleased with my dual fuel Jenn Air range which I have been using for a year. I really like the oven for baking & roasting and have become a strong proponent of convection. The temperature probe & warming drawer are nice conveniences. It took me a while to get accustomed to all the buttons & programming, but now I set most everything without even putting my glasses on. The variety of gas burners work well. I find it is easier to see grease & stains on the stainless than on my old white porcelain stove, hence I clean it more often. My only dissapointment is the weight of the oven door. I wish it was lighter but that could be me. Good luck. I remember the decision making angst.

i think the best thing you could do is go to a very reputable appliance store in your area and tell them what you want out of a range, what your price range is and they can help you. you're not going to get anywhere on the appliance forum unless you give very specific guidelines as to what you're looking for. they're like that over there! dd may I ask what were your concerns on the GE Cafe range? I think that is the line we are going with. I am on my way to the appliance store to look the line over again. I hated the knobs on the range and had some other scratching concerns on my first look. But from what I have read on the appliance board they seem to think it is a well thought out cooking appliance.

wow! Thank you all so much. xoxosmom, my concern on the ge is it looks to me like the stainless steel top under the grates would get scratched after many cleanings....this is just my opinion though. Also, it is not really a slide in, that is to say there is no lip that slides over counter top so therefore stuff can get spilled down the sides of the range (sales lady actually told me that) and Im not crazy about the red color on the controls and ge logo . Other than that the range is great, it seems to have everything Im looking for. reno & mims,I am so glad to hear that you guys like your ranges because I really like the look of it, its more professional looking but the price is reasonable. Jenn Air does get a bad rap and I dont know why. Sometimes I think Im better off not reading the appliance forum, I like to cook but im not a "serious cook".

All in all I am looking for a 30" professional look, all gas. I would like to have two high output burners, convection oven w/self clean. I am not a big baker so my main concern are the BTU's of the burners and the look of the range its self. If money were no object I would get a big Wolf!

I have the Jenn Air 8860 model and, while I've only had it about 4 months, so far I really like it. I also had concerns about buying a JA but went ahead anyway because of the look and the price. I'm not a serious cook either, and I've never cooked on a real pro range, so maybe I don't have a valid comparison but one of the things I like best about the JA 8860 is the burners. The high Btu burner really does boil water faster. And the low Btu burner even has a melt setting which works great. The first time I melted some butter in a pan, I was really impressed with how I didn't need to constantly watch it to make sure butter didn't start splattering everywhere. My only complaint is that the warming drawer doesn't seem to get bread warm enough, even on the high setting.
