Lovely color... I can't wait to see it come together! Do you know the details about the colors of milk paint they combined to acheive a blue/gray? I bought a vintage baker's table I'm refinishing and want to look into achieving a similar color. I don't plan on distressing so would probably leave the wood natural underneath but do want to try to reach a light french/blue/dove gray.

They look fabulous. Seeing Alison0704's gorgeous kitchen with the frency gray island (hi Allison, I'll stop gushing about your kitchen someday ;) and now your cabinets....I was debating between doing french blue/gray cabinets with marble island (and maybe some brown glazing on the cabinets) or going with cream cabinetry..which is what I ended up doing because I have that cream woodwork throughout the house and because it is a north facing room that doesn't get a lot of light. But I loooove the french blue/gray and wish I had the guts to do it. (However, I was making a few other choices that were "different" too that I was already set on so I couldn't be TOO different in every single aspect. Enjoy yours!

Lovely color. The soapstone should look really wonderful with it. The change of colors through the day is something I also particularly enjoy.

I'm not a 'blue person,' but do love gray. Either way, though, I think it'll be just gorgeous when you get the other elements you've chosen all in the room together. Sounds like the blue will be counterbalanced just right without the room becoming busy. Sounds like it will look very rich. Can't wait to see it.

remodelfla - I will have to ask my cabinet maker about the milk paint mix. Not a clue what the proportions are, but I can see if I can find out.

edlakin - Heartwood Design is the company that we worked with. I can't say enough good things about our experience. They were willing to think outside the box, great listeners whose expertise was evident throughout the design process. Build of the cabinets is impressive -- these are forever, that's for sure. My GC said she had never seen such detailed drawings of a kitchen. I have included a link to their web site below. FYI - I originally really wanted Crown Point for their period expertise, quality, etc., but they were just priced out of my reach and am ultimately very happy that I found this group close to home.

Well I am a blue person and I just love it as well. I really wish I had had the guts and went for the country green kitchen that I really wanted. I was torn between that and white (safer) and stained. I really look forward to seeing your kitchen put together.

I am a blue person, so I had no problem encouraging it. LOL I did one wall in a deeper blue and I'm really glad I did. It's one of those thinkgs that makes my kitchen right for me. I know you're going to love yours too. Look forward to seeing the installed photos before long. How exciting!

Absolutely scrumptious! I'm a huge blue person and wanted so much to paint my island almost the exact same color as your cabinets, but I chickened out. I'm hoping to incorporate some pretty blue accents elsewhere.

Another option for those who are intrigued by milk paint but in the end just don't think it's for them might be a flat oil paint such as Farrow & Ball's Dead Flat Oil. A little more durable, a little more straightforward application, a few more colors.

That's not to say it's "better". Just another option, if those particular qualities are what you're looking for.

I love your cabinets, and I think you will be so happy with the blue. They're muted enough to be almost a neutral. I can't wait to see how they look when you get the contrast of soapstone on them. Congrats to you for taking a risk with color that fits nicely in your home!
