Be still my heart... is that Verde Fantastico? We love that stone and hope to do it in our family bath sometime soon.

I'd stick with a very simple ceramic tile for the bs. I think a cream color to pick up a tone from the counter and from the sink cab would be great. I'd have it end below the level of the upper cabs with a bullnose edge for a clean look. You could do a relief tile here and there, but I'd keep it to the same color as the field. I'd certainly let the countertop be the star ;)

No advice - but WOW - that's just beautiful! LOVE your cabinets and the granite you chose. I like the wooden knobs, too. Are they cherry?

I like the contrasting sink cabinet, too - and that granite is just gorgeous.

I have nothing really to add-I think dianalo's ideas are great, and I agree with the cream color as a way to go. But I just had to say that I love your cabinet configurations. They are unusual and striking.

I'm not a big fan of the short granite backsplash, but with such gorgeous granite, I think it works! Personally, I'd do nothing and just leave it painted. Maybe add some pretty candle sconces next to the window and maybe change the white shade to a warmer fabric or grass relaxed roman shade or something.

A couple of stone choices and the art glass mosaic. I've seen the palest art glass in person - its spectacular and probably spendy.

In ceramic, maybe look at some field tile with texture or uneveness in the glaze - like winchester tile, trikeenan tile - there are actually lots of makers. They make even relatively bland cream interesting without being overpowering. In that same vein, if a tile maker offers lots of colors, maybe pick out a few (like yellow, cream and bone) and do your own tile mix.

I think I'd bring home some pale rust tones, and light gray samples as well as creams and maybe pale yellow. Below is from Walker Zanger.

Your kitchen is lovely and unique. My advice is take your time - there is so much tile that it can be hard to choose once you start looking.

Oh man, your kitchen is gorgeous! The cabinetry, glass inserts, granite, sink skirt...all special , unique and beautiful.

The backsplash tile which came immediately to mind for me (very similar to bmorepanic's idea--maybe even the same tile from Walker Zanger) is from Lucretzia's sublime kitchen. Sounds crazy, but I would do the entire wall with it--eurosplash-style. Even over the arch and the strip to the left of that doorway. and of course, under the hanging cabs. I think the combination of creams and soft greens would be so beautiful with your flooring and counters!

Electro - Looking at your layout and the beautiful stone I would consider no tile - just a lovely warm, washable paint. You have so many different sized wall spaces to contend with. Your choices seem classic, so if you really want tile, I might consider the entire window wall and under the uppers but leave the stove wall and arch entrance with no tile. Just a thought. If you tile I would imagine a classic, lovely handmade subway tile - like the Winchester or Pratt and Larson. Good luck.

What a gorgeous space - so warm and inviting! I total agree with sparklekitty and shanghaimom - I would either tile all the wall space or none. In my opinion, if just parts of the kitchen are done, I think it could look unfinished and be more of a distraction than a unifier.

Wow--just a minute while I pick my jaw up off the floor! Your granite is stunning! My vote would be with a creamy washable paint or creamy subways. Either way would still let your granite be the star of the show. Creamy tile up to the ceiling would be great.

I wouldn't put any BS up with much color, any mix of color, ruffness/unevenness. It'd just detract from the granite to me. I would change the wall color, WT and color and might add a few prints of herbs on either side of the window.

Your counters and cabinets are beautiful. I personally would not add a tile backsplash on top of the 4" granite splash. The areas behind your range and sink are already protected, so I would just leave it alone except for paint. I'm afraid adding tile on the walls might just look "busy" and distract from the beautiful elements you already have, especialy since the start and stop points will be difficult with your configuration.

I think I agree with those who suggested not doing a backsplash at all. Everything seems quite balanced as it is -- and very appealing. The granite is gorgeous and deserves to have star billing. The plain walls look right in your kitchen -- less is more!

Another vote for no backsplace. I think the arch, stainless rangetop back, and other angles and lines would make it difficult to get right. And I also think it looks beautiful as is. Some washable paint and maybe some art pieces (wallhangings, colorful but inexpensive art from somewhere like Cost Plus, etc.) would look amazing and bring in a balance and warmth to your beautiful kitchen without trying to compete or complement your granite or gorgeous cabinets.

The other thing that might be interesting is just tile on the window wall but all the way up. Add some depth and bling. But I don't think you have to try to match it up in the cook top corner at all.

i'm not normally attracted to stained cabinetry. but i am in utter shock at how lovely yours is! this is truly a stunning space and i love all of your choices. loving the granite. loving the way the darks play against the lights of the walls and floors. loving ALL of it!

i really would love to see you keep the lightness of the walls ...maybe with a cream crackle ceramic tile. and i would bring it all the way to the ceiling so not to create any divide. i think it would be spectacular. whatever you decide, keep it simple. there's so much going on already. you can't have too many stars on one stage. someone will get hurt.

I would go with a creamy white crackle subway tile and keep the design very simple. I think your kitchen cabinets and granite are very beautiful, but you are dealing with some odd areas as far as the layout is concerned.
I would look at Walker Zangers Gramercy park line and choose either of the whitish tiles or go with Sonoma Tile Makers. I think their tile might be called Krazy Krackle.

I agree, you have the granite backsplash plus the stainless behind the range. I would not add any more. I would love to see a less light color on the walls, maybe a pale sage green or a more buttery yellow.

The granite and cabinets are spectacular! I love the little shelves with the baskets.

First of all, I gotta say that I love your cabinets! And I liked your granite until I saw the closeup of it, and then I fell in love with it, too!

I see a lot of nature in your kitchen, with the beautiful wood and the tile floor and the green granite reminds me of pine forests⦠My first gut instinct is in agreement with some other posters here -- stone tile filling the wall shared by the range would be stunning. I think IâÂÂd also want to carry the tile to the area to the right of the range, underneath those floating cabinets. But the sink, I would leave as is. Just a good, scrubbable paint there.

I also agree about the color of the tiles -- something creamy. I *do not* think you should be scared away from something with texture, though. Tumbled tile thatâÂÂs been grouted wouldnâÂÂt be too busy for your space, as long as there isnâÂÂt too much variation in the color.

With all the stone and wood, IâÂÂd want to come in with some more feminine decorations to soften the look, maybe some flowers or herbs or something.
