Seen your kitchen...what's the rest of the house look like?
Comments (150)I'm coming in late to this thread, but here's a few photos. You can click on the photos to see more at my photobucket album. Master bath with natural-cleft quartzite floors More master bath - the missus' makeup area. I made the little jewelry cabinet on the counter. Den (Scherr's cabinets, finished and installed by me) Living room/music room (tile is tarvertine with copper accents in a pinwheel pattern) Swimming pool (my daughter walks on walker :) This is actually the view directly out my kitchen windows. The waterfall cascades into the pond, then feeds back into the pool. The backyard at night, an awesome place for small dinner parties....See MoreCan I see your front door dressed for autumn
Comments (69)blanche65 - Thank you so much for the compliments on the doors. I bought them originally with some dried grasses already in them, stuck into some florist foam down in there. I've had them a year now and each season I've stuck in other types of things, like red berries at Christmas, yellow and white dried flowers in spring etc. This summer a bird actually built a nest in one so I didn't touch it! We watched as she sat on the 3 eggs, then the babies hatched and lived there on my front door until one day I was actually watching when they had flying lessons. Sooooo, a few weeks ago I took the nest out and had to remove a few of the dirtier twigs...lol. I just went to hobby lobby and bought a few more twigs and some gourds and pumpkins to stick in also. I think this summer I'll put something different up :-) I attach them to the door (which is fiberglass) with the 3M Command small wire hooks. They've lasted a year so far and still holding tight. The bottom point has a small piece of the Bluestik adhesive putty like teachers use to attach things to walls. That just keeps the breeze from knocking it crooked and keeps it hanging nice and straight....See MoreCan I see your front door dressed for Christmas
Comments (129)I would classify myself as an updated traditionalist. I enjoy searching and collecting special things over time as I can afford them. I appreciate and enjoy my home, friends and family. I donÂt live near my family so it is special when we can be together. I have had my ups and downs in this life as all of us have. I came here to share ideas with like minded, talented people. The photo of my home is a true reflection of my nature which is why I let it speak for myself. I find it more interesting to listen then to speak, because I tend to learn more. I sew, cook, loom weave, paint (mostly my house) and I am working on developing a decent tennis serve!...See MoreSee kitchen from front door
Comments (9)A kitchen that blends well with the open living and dining areas can be very attractive and dramatic. At night lighting can contribute to the effect. You need, like every beautiful interior space, to carefully design for that. Just as you would for a living room. Three spaces together- that's the coordination goal given your layout. You're the primary arbiter. If you find the finished product comfortable and inviting you've succeeded. You have the option of removing part of the wall opposite the entrance as well as all of the wall on the dining room side. You'll need to post a scaled layout of your space with measurements including doors and windows....See MoreBuehl
