Did you choose your individual slabs?

I went to a stone yard today that carries a lot of unique and "high end" slabs.

I found the soapstone I want to use and it was reasonably priced so I'm pretty sure I want to buy it there. They also had some other slabs I was interested in for my island and bathroom counters as well.

When I was talking to the salesperson I mentioned something about "choosing my slabs" and she replied that they don't let customers "cherry pick" their stones! She said you choose the bundle and then they choose the slab. This does NOT appeal to me at all. I want to see the exact slab I'll be getting.

I didn't press the issue today because I wasn't ready to make a decision but I definitely want to see exactly which slabs I am buying.

Is this a common policy? Has anyone else experienced this while looking at slabs?
