Our goal was not showing off stuff. Italian Double Satin Fibers--very subtle close up; we needed something to break up the amount of oak in the room, but didn't want it to be a strong design. If I had turned the patterned mugs, etc. a bit before snapping photo, you wouldn't see a lot, just the presence of the dishes. Color of item is a bigger issue than item shape when looking through a partially obscure glass if you want to NOT see stuff in cupboards, I think.

I would probably choose a less expensive option if doing it again, but my #2 runner up "Dissymetry" seemed to have too much pattern when I was planning. It's one of a number of "sale" patterns at Art Glass Cabinets.

I chose to put in glass on a few uppers because my cabinets are such a dark stain, I wanted to break up and lighten the overall appearance. I went with clear glass.

I used frosted glass so I would not have to worry about what's in them being seen, but I would still get the look of glass in the doors. The cabinet to the right of my cooktop has most of my spices and oils so it's too difficult to keep it tidy enough to be visible. Frosted glass worked well and it is cheap.

In my previous kitchen, we used a frosted glass. I didn't want the stuff inside to be too visible, either. We also did not have lights in the cabinets. I would attach a pic if I had any idea how to do it :)

In our new kitchen, we plan to put stained glass in the doors.

we did all clear uppers - I wanted it all as light and airy as possible. Love them at night all lit up :-)

Don't know if this will help because I don't have anything behind the glass, but we did a "hammered" glass in some of ours.

I'm still trying to decide what to do about the interior color. Not sure I like the natural look with the cherry exterior.

We will have seedy glass because we're keeping the original windows, which are all seedy. Not that anyone but us will ever notice the glass in the cabinets or that it matches, I suspect (they're stacked uppers, and glass is in the top ones).

Thanks for the pics descriptions everyone. So many choices! I think I prefer the slightly hidden look of some sort of textured glass but not completely opaque.... The hammered glass looks pretty cool, redearedslider.
