Oh! I love your choice...Aga Legacy is wonderful (or so I hear) and the cream color will be beautiful!

Do you have an island planned? I would make the perimeter cabinets black granite or soapstone, to match the top of the Aga. If you were doing an island or separate hutch, it might be nice to do the countertop in a cream quartzite. It's supposed to be very pretty.

As for appliances, I'm with you on not loving the Aga fridge and dishwasher. The stove is such a focal point, I think you should do something different for the other appliances. Stainless steel would look great. Have you seen the Sarah Richardson Farmhouse kitchen on HGTV? She got an amazing vintage looking stainless steel, side by side from Sears. It had great handles and even some dials on the front. Very cool.

I'm sure you'll get lots of great ideas, but there's my two cents worth :)

Thanks for those two cents, lavender_lass! I am planning on an island - and I love your suggestion for doing something different on the countertop with it. I'm glad you think stainless will look good - I'm on my way to HGTV.com right now to check out Sarah's farmhouse kitchen.

We got a vintage-looking range too (a burgundy Fratelli Onofri Royal Chiantishire double oven). What we found is that if you get plain-front stainless appliances, they complement the range without competing with it. By "plain front" I mean, no external ice/water or other external gizmos on the fridge, and no visible controls on the dishwasher (we got an Asko... at the link below, click on the "3" box to see a close-up of the kind of door and handle we got). On the Asko there's not even a manufacturer's name on the front--nothing--and I think it looks retro all by itself, much less in combination with the range.

The other advantage of avoiding external ice/water on the fridge is that that is ALWAYS the part that breaks. You see more complaints about those than anything else, and when they break they can do major damage (one woman on here posted that her external water dispenser had leaked while they were away and destroyed her hardwood floor). Oh, speaking of leakage, both Asko and Bosch dishwashers have excellent leak protection. I would assume Miele does too.

Your future kitchen sounds lovely. Are you not considering integrated panels for the DW and fridge? DD2 recently purchased SS appliances. They always need cleaning.

Thanks ideagirl2 and allison0704. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond and thank you for your input - holiday travel has kept me away from GW for way too long. We pulled the trigger and ordered the cream Aga Legacy. Still considering what other appliances we will have, leaning to Miele DW and Subzero fridge. Going back and forth on integrated panels. We're going to have so much cabinetry in the design that I'm leaning toward just going with ideagirl's suggestion of plain front in SS.

At some point, I'll post pictures our cabinet choices (Modesto in a Sepia finish for the perimeter and wetbar in an adjacent room; same cabinets in Jasmine Paint for the island) and get feedback on countertops - we're going to look at some granite next week.

jdelrayer, I am in the exact same situation! I found the AGA 36" in Cream for a very competitive price and it has now become the focal point of the kitchen. I'm going with the KitchenAid double-door undercounter refrigerator and dishwasher which come in S/S or panel ready... The full size refrigerator is out of the kitchen (just too big and cumbersome for a small kitchen!). My dilemma has been choosing the cabinet finish! I appreciate your sharing the Sepia finish; I'm going to check it out now. And, lavender lass, thank you for the cream quartzite suggestion! Brilliant.

Oh, JerseyShore, I am sooo glad to know another AGA Legacy person! And your post is very timely - our demolition started today so we are officially under way! No turning back now. Our AGA is here - well, in a warehouse for the next few weeks, but I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. In my experience it is really hard to tell the differences in the cabinet stains online (and I'm not convinced that the Decora website always works). Definitely worth seeing samples in person if you can. And see if your AGA dealer has a color sample that you can take with you. They don't make them anymore according to my dealer but he happened to have one laying around that he gave me. It was very helpful to us when settling on cabinets.
