Well, DUH, me. I'm so intimidated by the whole computer thing that I've just been struggling along looking alphabetically in the finished kits. blog. (Which is a joy, so I'm not complaining.) But am I the only one here who didn't know about the incredible resource we have there? You can search for particular kit. features, or appliance/fixture/cabinet manufacturers, of cabinetry/countertop colors or manufacturers, or...it just goes on and on.

I cannot believe I have gone all this time without knowing this and benefitting from it. I just now read about it on the long thread about small kitchens.

I had seen this before. Is it possible to search multiple criteria? For example, can you search for medium size, high end, contemporary cabinets in a natural cherry finish, and black galaxy countertops?

This is a fabulous resource and I'd like to be able to use it more.

I didn't know it was there either! I tried to view any of the kitchens- but any that I pick out just show up with a blank white screen on the left side of the oage. I don't see anywhere that it says I need to have a particular program downloaded. What am I doing wrong???

There are a few ways to make a web page appear on google. The basic way is to just wait.. google has "spider apps" that go out "crawling" the web adding new sites to their ranks. Defining "key words" allows you to designate the specifi information you want to be associated with your page/blog. You can also POST your blog or page to google... basically you send a request to be added to the google ranks rather than waiting days or a week or so for a google spider to find you. You can also PAY to increase your ranks-- I definitely wouldn't go that direction. SEO, Search engine optimization is a science-- and for businesses it can get tricky and complicated. For a blogger, I would just be mindful of the keywords used. Another thing is that you "retrigger" the google spider and "freshen" your listing by adding/editing pages. A more active blog will be more frequently updated. I wish your son much luck and much fun with his new project! I'd encourage him to do some of this research too. I know it isnt as creative and fun as the graphics and videos will be but it is all part of the project. It's also invaluable knowledge in this information age!

IIRC (from just a couple of days ago, when life was relatively normal ;), in the area that now says 'Your topics' and 'Explore Topics', top left, it previously had Garden forums, or Home forums, or All Discussions as options, and clicking on a button brought up the list of forums, so in that respect it hasn't changed. It would have been nice if Houzz had included some instructions ahead of time--a lot of angst could have been avoided.

Just wanted to follow up that we finally decided on a set of bedspreads and shams from LL Bean. I didn't think the color would look good with our eggplant colored curtains, but the exact color is in a wall hanging we have in there so ties it together. Just need to get something decorative to hang on the wall above the beds. (Since they are adjustable, we don't really need headboards.) This is the twin size. We both think this looks all right without putting a skirt underneath. I just wanted the legs to be hidden which these spreads do.

Just discovered this tool also. Went to FKB and asked for kitchens with Oak Cabinets and got three pages of listings. On my computer they were in blue. I clicked on the individual's screen name and the specifics with a picture came up. Had to use the "back" button to get the next individual's listing and repeat the process for the three pages of listings. The information was TERRIFIC. Could pick out those kitchens that appealed to me and my situation. Fantastic site and very well organized. Someone in the know created this site and they really made some great navigational options. Thanks to all who contribute.

It is apparently hosted and the massive indexing work done by starpoo. I don't know the answers to those computer questions either. I just use it the way jb1176 does and have no problems. Mozilla is my browser, but on some other sites I can only get photos to come up using a Microsoft browser.
