I'm sure some people choose a darker grout with subway tiles, but wanted you to know I was given the same advice from the tile showroom to use white grout with subway tiles. They said the idea w/subway tiles was to have the tiles be the focus and not the grout.

Here is Bill V's response to someone who asked a similar question:

Platinum's the one I usually recommend, but the oyster grey should do just as well. They're both about the same shade, but the platinum has more of a greyer color, while the oyster grey is more of a beigy color. Either one should work well, though.

Cali44-- Although both of those might be just a tad darker than colors usually used, If you really want to accent the pattern of the tile, I don't see anything wrong with using them. Be forewarned, though, Those color grouts will make the tile pattern the focal point of the room.

I think linen will stand out too much. Here's a picture of my bathroom floor with linen grout. I think the grout may have been a little damp in these pics making it darker than it really is, but when it is dry, it is almost a perfect match for these floor tiles.

Linen is pretty light. See the pic below. As a matter of fact, I asked here on this forum if I should go with a little bit darker grout, and the consensus was to match it with field tile. So, I did. Our grout lines are 1/16".

As you can see, our tile is off-white with a slight marbling effect.

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. We decided to call the tile guy early this morning and play it safe and just go with the white grout. I just figured I rather be safe than sorry! : )

I will try to post pictures tomorrow of the longest kitchen remodel in history, almost two years, but who is counting, besides me!
