Vote! Marble or white tile/dark grout backsplash? (pic heavy)
Comments (57)Now focusing on either completely white marble or pale marble body color with pale streaking. Any suggestions? (All my samples of marble have medium to dark toned streaks.) One idea is pillowed thassos like Mindimoo, but I dont have a picture. Is it my imagination or did my thread about choosing the finish of the Modernaire hood crown disappear?...See MoreLansdale Carrara Marble Backsplash- Polished or Honed??
Comments (7)Hi - thanks for responding! The Lansdale has a creamy, taupey tone which I think (hope!) sort of blends with the copper. Regular Carrara didn't because it is all gray and white, but Lansdale seemed to blend it all-- the brown tones bring out the copper, and then then the whiter tiles tile in with the cabinets, while ones that are grayer tie in with my stainless steel.. I know the galaxy has the sparkle/flecks, but in general I think of it more as a neutral since you pretty much just see black counters. I didn't want anything too sparkly/glass/iridescent even though I LOVED that at first, but it competed with the sparkle, whereas the Lansdale is muted while still being warm and bringing some interest. Thoughts? I can't think of anything that would incorporate copper as I don't want to do a dark backsplash, and don't want accents because it is a very small area. I wanted neutral, and soothing and something to warm up kitchen.. I saw a picture of something who used it on this forum and looked similar to mine. Granted she has very dark chocolate counters (not granite) but i was thinking of my copper like the brown....See MoreWhite Venatino Marble Back Splash - Grout Color? backsplash
Comments (2)Many people with Carrara (which is similiar) have chosen Custom Platinum. It's a very light grey that tends to minimize patterns, if that is your goal. But, compare the color to your sample, as your tile may be different....See MoreBest Grout for Large Carrara Backsplash
Comments (1)I recently installed and grouted a carrara basketweave tile (with small black marble squares) floor in our new bathroom. Since we were really concerned about getting the color we liked, I put some extra tile on a sheet of plywood and tested three colors: Delorean Gray, Standard White and Silverado. If it's possible, I'd suggest a similar test so that you are confident that you're getting a color you love. Here's what I saw: - the Standard white had a yellow undertone that didn't go at all with the grey veining in my marble - the Delorean Gray was too dark for us - the Silverado was the closest match - the tones were fairly close to those in my marble (though with a slightly brown undertone) Can you test Silverado before committing? We wanted to see the grout lines to emphasize the pattern, but didn't want anything too dark. We finally mixed Delorean Gray and Silverado 50:50. It was quite a feat to mix so much powdered grout thoroughly, and I wouldn't really recommend it, but we're very pleased with the results. Hope this helps!...See Morekateskouros
