which rev-a-shelf trash pull out to get for 18' cab?
Comments (3)I suspect you're looking at the minimum cabinet opening. That means the actual opening, not the cabinet size. An 18" cabinet has 2 side walls that take away from the opening. If you have face framed cabinets, you also lose some additional space from the frame. For example... If the walls of your cabinet are 3/4", then in a frameless cabinet you lose approx 1-1/2" in the opening (3/4" + 3/4") So, 18" - 1-1/2" = 16-1/2" cabinet opening If you face framed cabinets w/a 1-1/2" frame, you lose 3" from the opening (1-1/2" + 1-1/2") So, 18" - 3" = 15" cabinet opening...See MoreTrash compactor or trash pull-out?
Comments (11)I have to say that when I had a group of young (that is, younger than me) friends over and they saw our freestanding trash compactor, they laughed and said they hadn't seen one since they were kids. Thanks! In any case, we replaced it with trash cans under the sink when we did the reno. Our small kitchen didn't have space for a pullout or we might have gone that way. How many people live in your house? When all 3 kids were growing up, the trash compactor was marvelous. When it got to be just the 2 of us, it could take 3 weeks to fill. We made separate trash runs for smelly things like meat trays. If you have a houseful of people, I say replace it until you do your reno and then reevaluate. You're unlikely to be sorry you have it, and it's so much easier not trying to blend a new element into a cabinet run that you're going to replace anyway....See MoreHelp me w/Trash Pull-out Location...please!! Comments (5)I don't have pictures but... In the order of volume generated in our house per day/week 1. Recycle: we use 40qt + garbage can. We do not need to sort for the city. So all paper, glass, cans, plastic go into the recycle. 2. compost: We use 2 large green compost bins. We use bioliners so that they can be composted. one is for the backyard which only has fruit and vegie peels, and one is for the city which has meat and dairy. We scrape the dinner plates into the city compost bin. Most of the restaurants in the city does the same thing. The city picks up everything including used paper towels and pizza boxes in the "food waste" program. 3. garbage/trash: we use a much smaller garbage can, about the size of a grocery bag. if not emptied daily, it smells too much, ie chicken wrappers. So we don't need a large garbage can. I have the large recycle and the small garbage in the same pull out drawer. I have put the smaller garbage over the "shelf rack" so that the garbage is lifted up a little and closer to the top AND I store the garbage bags under the shelf storage rack. I keep the compost bins under the sink pull out. I could not find a system where all 4 boxes could fit in one pullout and NOT take up enormous amount of space so I lose storage. I had to accept that some under sink storage need be used for dealing with complicated garbage and compost. Hope this makes sense. If your city has a "food waste" program, you will find that you have very little trash that goes into landfill and you may need to modify the trash/recycle/compost bin system in your house if you chose to do the city compost....See MoreNeed replacement storage bin for pull out kitchen trash - SMALL
