countertop advice - color scheme
Comments (80)Hi again, Today I happened upon a slab of brushed absolute black at the granite place. It was gray, instead of the usual black. I have a honed sample that is also black. But I guess with "brushed" it comes out gray. I like it a lot. It looks like concrete (which I priced and was too much in my area). But then my excitement faded when the granite guy told me that it would have to be sealed to prevent oil from staining it. And it would look black when sealed! Do any of you have brushed AB? Is there someway to keep the gray look and protect it from oil stains? I love to fry, and it will be around the cooktop . . . Limommy - the Neolith place did not have a calacatta sample, or have it there to look at. I too wonder if it would feel like stone or not....See MoreCounter choices - What's the right look for my space?
Comments (21)I think they are going to look fine with the band. Have you thought about putting the band at the top, bottom, and leading edge? I think it would look sharp to border the panel in lime and add a tiny fold of the white between the green border and the print fabric. When I was trying to decide on Misty Carrara or granite eons ago when I re-did my kitchen, my fabricator arranged for me to go to the Caesarstone warehouse and look at an entire sheet. (Well, I'm not really sure he "arranged" it. He was supposed to but he frequently failed to follow through. I showed up at the warehouse and told them my fabricator had sent me. They looked a bit puzzled. Regardless, they took me into the warehouse and showed me what I was looking for.) See if your fabricator can arrange for you to see a whole slab....See MoreWhat color silicone to use between the backsplash & counter top?
Comments (18)@Joseph - good news! I spoke to Dani about the Axiom translucent white. I have a question about filling in the joints. There are some minor ragged edges where the fabricator cut the quartz countertop. This is where it meets the wall. Will the translucent white silicone hide these? I know it's not clear colored, but wondering if it will fill in and mask some minor cracks?...See MoreHelp please with color choices for white cabinets and quartz counters.
Comments (49)Your kitchen is beautiful! I love the mix of white and wood cabinets with the Hanstone quartz. Thank you so much for the photos! I used this quartz in my bathrooms and this is similar to what I’m planning to do with my kitchen next. I see you continued the quartz in the backsplash behind the stove. What did you use for the backsplash behind the sink and desk? Also, what have you found to work best for maintaining the quartz? I’m a little afraid of mine given the warnings they gave me about heat damaging it. I’ve also noticed that I need to wipe off water spots. Thank you!...See Moreblackchamois
