Disclaimer: I don't have the nearly the experience with layout that many here do. That having been said, a quick observation:

I wonder if you'll have a problem with people coming through from the dining room (and perhaps therefore from the whole front of the house) and having to snake through/near working areas of the kitchen to get to the family room. Might you try the peninsula coming down from the top instead, creating a U for prepping/cooking that is out of the traffic path from dining room to family room? Your intended table/banquette position will affect the flow, too, so it might be helpful to see just where you intend to place the table.

Thanks for responding! The current layout actually has a peninsula at the top near the sink. We tried to layout a peninsula in the same area but couldn't make it work without the dishwasher in the peninsula which I really didn't want to do. The more I thought about how the peninsula is now I realized I'm always running around it to grab extra silverware or to get to the sink/range area.

The banquette will be in the top left corner with a table and chairs extending below the window area. We have a table in that same area now and I feel like the peninsula crowds that area.

Hopefully others will chime in, I'm interested in hearing different ideas. Thanks!

Dfz- It's a nice plan, but it's really small. I know you have many limitations, especially the doors, but I'm concerned about the small sink cabinet...and a peninsula you cannot use for seating.

I don't remember if you mentioned anything last time, but can you take down the wall (or at least replace it with a partial wall) to the dining room?

While the banquette is a great idea, you are just left with such a small area for a work space. As your little one gets older (and maybe a few more?) there's going to be very little room for them to help you in the kitchen.

Even if you don't think you want to go this route, it might be worth it to ask for some ideas. Maybe put in your other drawing, showing all the windows and doors that cannot be removed...who knows, you might come up with a plan that you love...and hadn't thought of before :)

Also, is there room for any kind of banquette in the dining room or family room?

Lavendarlass, I'll attach that other picture. We thought about doing a half wall to dining room but couldn't find a good way to use our current eat-in area of the kitchen and were hesistant about losing a dining room (resale is a concern) The dining room is only about 11x12. No room in the family room for a banquette. That is our main hang out tv watching area which is open to the kitchen.

I should also note that we don't have a huge budget to work with so trying to minimize moving of plumbing, etc. Thanks again!

We have more room than I thought between the top right corner and window above the eating area. Any chance I could fit a lazy susan, sink, dishwasher and peninsula on that wall without it looking awful? It's 118 3/4" of space. (There is larger trim on that window that we decided to make smaller).

If you don't want to move the appliances too much, I would keep what you have, but get rid of the peninsula. It seems nice in theory, but it blocks your main traffic pattern, through the room.

The fridge looks too close to the dining room door. I would move it down as far as possible, towards the foyer entrance.

Since you are so tight on workable counter space, I would rethink the pantry. I would replace it with base cabinets and an upper cabinet, which if perfect for cereal and canned foods. Large, bulky items can always be stored in the banquette...like big serving dishes, rarely used appliances, etc.

The microwave, by the fridge, is a good idea. You might want to relocate the pull out trash bin, to this area, too. You could always have a smaller trash, under the sink. Have you seen the pull out drawers you can put under sinks, rather than a standard cabinet? That might work well, in your space.

Since you only have one sink, I would make it a bigger one and use a bigger cabinet. You still have room for the dishwasher and now, your lazy susan, which will also store a lot.

Lavendarlass, thanks again. It helps a lot. I didn't see the sink cabinet with drawers but it sounds interesting, I'll do a search.

I too, keep coming back to the idea of no peninsula. Something like the layout below. That's something I have to talk my DH into. He is sure that we will regret eliminating a peninsula. Does that seem like too much open space?

The other idea I had was to use the half wall as an area for shallow cabinets (Maybe use 12" deep uppers as lowers). I might be able to have an overhang there and barstools in the connecting room. That would only leave me room for a small table in between the bar and working area. I don't want to give up a kitchen table altogether though. Would that be strange to have a table in between? I have a small kitchen with three doors too! I also have a hard time visualizing what will fit where, so we started measuring and marking where the cabinets end, where the fridge sits, etc on the floor or the wall with a sharpie! We're gutting it and I find drawing it out really helps me. On this old house they've used cardboard boxes for a mock-up kitchen.
My two cents, I would skip the kitchen table and use the dining room, and/or a counter eating area in the kitchen

I really like the idea of the banquette. You can store a surprising amount of stuff in it...is it going to be a corner banquette?

What is cabinet 8? You know, one possibility, might be a pull out cabinet, that can work as a peninsula, but slides back into the counter, when not in use. I think it's kind of like an upside down U. (I saw one a long time ago, on some remodeling show.)

I really like your floor plan. It looks very welcoming and has plenty of room to move around. The kitchen table will also be a nice place to work, especially when baking cookies or doing projects, with the little one. I think your kitchen is going to be quite charming! :)

Lavendarlass-Cabinet 8 is a 24" pantry. I couldn't get my DH to give up a pantry but he is now on board with getting rid of the peninsula. If we do the banquette it will be in the corner.
That pullout cabinet sounds neat!

Dfz- That's a good place for the pantry. I like it better on this side, with the fridge moved over. It gives you good prep space on the other side, close to your stove.

A corner banquette will be a great idea. Depending on how you do it, as the kid(s) get older, you could take it out and put in more of a high counter, with seating.

For now, I'd stick with the banquette, since it's much safer with little ones, it's more family oriented (you're looking at each other, not the TV) and it gives you some nice work space (especially for baking cookies). Can you tell that's my favorite thing to do, during the holidays? LOL
