Since you have the name of the architect, I'd email them and ask directly. I've had very good luck doing that with pictures from Houzz.

EDIT: You might also address the lighting in your kitchen and go with something cooler on the color spectrum.

I would google for bloggers recommendations of whites. Usually they give some explanations comparing whites to each other. I'd use those as a basis to find a few less creamy whites to try out.

i emailed the architect yesterday so thank you for the suggestions, but no response as of yet. picking the right white is torture and our lighting is not in yet so we can't tell what anything will look like in the kitchen's lighting.

You can go on the Benjamin Moore website and go to "Color Family" and then picks Whites. This will give you a page of all (AFAIK) their whites. I found it really helpful to see how they relate to each other. It's a bit painful to use on a mobile device, but on the computer its fairly fast to look at each color and find the name.

Picking a white is so very difficult!

Maybe something like Benjamin Moore Pure White? I tried to link to a Google search for this color but the Gardenweb link option doesn't seem to be working for me.
