Strange granite/cabinet alignment question

We are installing granite over existing cabinets. There are filler strips on both sides of the dishwasher. When our house was built 10 years ago, the left filler strip was installed 3/4" further out from the wall than the right filler strip. In other words, if you open the dishwasher door and put a straight edge across filler strip to filler strip, it is not flat (who knows why). Yes, this does make our dishwasher look crooked as well as there being only a 1/2" overhang on the present countertop where the filler strip is. This does not look as bad as it sounds and, in fact, I lived in the house for two weeks before I noticed it. Our granite installer/fabricator thinks we don't need to do anything to the cabinets because he can cut the granite to match the lines of the cabinets. In order to do so and have an even 1.25" overhang the countertop will need to be 3/4" deeper (and then slowly narrow down) in the area where the filler strip sticks out. He says this 3/4" difference won't be noticeable. Any opinions on this?
