Strange design opportunity.

Two years ago I partnered on a project that was a gut renovation of two houses. And I mean gut renovation:

The new kitchen(s) were a basic cabinet kitchen with granite countertops in a rental unit. And a Plain & Fancy kitchen with honed Absolute Black countertops. Front and back glass doors on the upper down one side.

They are probably selling the house. A friend loves the house, loves the kitchen, but wants it on a different floor than this kitchen is. So, I said we could probably get someone to carefully take it apart and reinstall it in the new location.--She loves it, but if she is "moving it anyway [she] may just want to do a new kitchen almost like this one, but we don't have to reuse anything necessarily". Who wants a Plain and Fancy 2 year old kitchen?

People sell kitchens on CL all the time.... She could also consider donating to Green Demolitions or Habitat for Humanity and take the write off. What a shame though....

I am sure it will be donated or something, but in this market I am not sure I would buy a house that had a full on renovation two years ago and re-renovate it, removing two full kitchens, redoing one, and re-renovating three full baths, as part of the process.

man.. you got the top 3 sperts to answer ... but let me come at it from the other direction ... some have suggested.. that my garden could be called 'anything but green' ... as i have so many variegated plants ... what the leafminer does.. is make an otherwise nondescript green plant.. variegated ... lol ... others might even call it show #2.. after the flowers fade ... so working on a zen level.. i like it ... and you must do one of two things.. join me at that level.. or get rid of the plants ... they will come back year after year .. as long as you have columbine.. some years barely noticeable.. some years very ... as noted.. it is not worth any chemical intervention .. if you cant accept it.. find some other plant ... but do try to join me as accepting it as variegation.. ken

Maybe in a weekend cabin? I'm not sure, I'd like to see the entire space, more photos. What comes to mind though is lack of ease in cleaning. I see surfaces that could collect dust, spray products that don't really appear 'wipeable'...

Is it in Philly, palimsest? If so, you have a customer here in DC. I have been looking for a sign telling me that NOW is that time to renovate my nearly 35-year-old kitchen. Plain & Fancy in white shaker style that is close enough not to have too big a carbon footprint looks like a sign to me.

If the buyer proves serious about not even trying to recycle the cabinets in that house, please email me through the link on My Page. I could be up there with a truck, my contractor's crew to skillfully remove them, and a fair amount of cash with a week's notice. Or perhaps you would alert me when to look at the Philly craigslist.

My only problem with Green Demolitions is that they do not have a provision for buying even locally (DC Metro) originated cabinets without having them first trekked up to CT, unloaded, and then reloaded for the trip back. It sort of defeats the ideals of recycling.

That would be a wonderful outcome.

Does anyone else like the idea that this good thing is being posted on Sept 11th and after all the fires and floods? Thanks for the warm fuzzy -- hope it works out for everyone.

Oh, wow. I like the picture of the ratty kid on there too. Beautiful, dressed in Moldering Faded Raj Wear. Except the books ... you can't really do all those books in moldering fading raj land: too moldering.

That company definitely deserves some sort of prize! But think how much could be saved in renovation costs if you just sprang for this furniture and left it as "before"?!
