Can someone draw my kitchen for me?

I would love to see what my kitchen will look like. Can anyone with a design software help me?

Here is the layout, still working on it so if someone has any suggestions, please share.

I might be able to do it, but the image is way too small. To draw it, I need very accurate dimensions of the room, including ceiling height. I'd also need to know what materials and colors you're planning. Email me through 'my page' if you want.

I also tried to read it and even expanded in PowerPoint only a few things can be read, most cannot.

If possible, could you either post a bigger picture or load one in PhotoBucket and link it here.

One thing, if at all possible, I'd make the island overhang 15".

Thanks so much for your responses! I agree. My experience has taught me that thinking these details out before construction is much more practical. Here are some answers to your questions: I live in central NJ. Zone 6-7. I have about 4 feet of height under the deck to insulate it. I was thinking of using "Tiger Foam". IÂve used it in my home before. This stuff is effective, but expensive. I would use some and fill the rest of the area with packing Styrofoam that IÂve been collecting. The greenhouse will be built against my home. The bedroom window above it would be blocked if I made it higher. I guess IÂll be growing dwarf bananas. I donÂt see that I have much of choice, unless you can see a way to configure this that I canÂt see. There is an area to the left where we can go higher, but that would make it a weird shape, and more complicated construction. I guess it isnÂt worth it. I looked over the full size plans and you are right, they donÂt have the overall dimensions. No wonder my township returned the plans for being incomplete. The floor space is about 7 feet by 15 feet, minus the cut corners. HereÂs where I stand now. The deck is built. The rest of the deck is finished. The supports for the green house are all in and there is durarock on the floor, in the greenhouse area, that is ready for a tile floor. I would love to use a floor drain that is set into the floor and runs the length of the space, but that would entail cutting away the supports. The surface that this is will be built on is above the surface in front of it. May be the drain could run along the front, out side the floor supports. I think my architect could work this out. If not, then wherever we put the drain, the floor would have to slope in that direction. The way it is built now, it slops slightly away from the house. I guess we could change that just a little with the mud when we tile. I think the architect put a knee wall in the plans. How should that be built? Will I be running things through it in the future? The ridge of the roof runs the short way, so it isnÂt very long in relation to the space. If you put in a ridge vent, how do you keep the hot air from escaping in the winter? HereÂs my main concern. IÂm not building the green house because I donÂt have room for my plant inside my home. IÂm building it because my houseplants donÂt do well in my home in the winter. They get plagued by spiders and disease and dry out. I have been very successful with outdoor gardening. I realize that I will still have to care for my plants in the greenhouse but I hope it will be a lot better for them than it would be in the house. I would really like to find out what kind of heating wonÂt make it too dry in there.

newhomebuilder...don't mind me, I'm going blind! Seriously, I didnt see the hip section on the left but now I do. So with your drawing, there will be three triangular shapes including the exsiting hip. Gotcha! When my parents did theirs the roof line was just straight across and it was very easy to add on. Their door was not recessed back at all. So now I want to see what you're doing to YOUR house...LOL. I thought you had a brand new one?? rdsso, I can't wait to see how this turns out for you! A backsplash can be done at any point. Is there some reason besides being anxious to get it done that you can't wait the 4 weeks to get what you really love? In the scheme of things... I think a 4 week wait would be worth it to get something I had my heart set on. I know how hard it is when you're dying to see the finished product.

This isn't to be rude...but more educational: It's funny how people not in the business don't realize the complexities of kitchen ordering....and the time required to write up a clean, perfect order. . Yes, some orders are easy and just require the basics. But today, most kitchens are more complex (or customized) and go floor to ceiling. Expectations are so much higher. Every little detail must be spelled out. Knowledge of how things fit and clearances all go hand in hand with a kitchen order. Also, the box construction and overlay will determine how you order the cabinets. My order of a frameless kitchen will be completely different from an inset kitchen. Many times people are shocked when I tell them in can take me anywhere from 1-3 days to get an order faxed in. Things you have to check: hinging, finished ends, corner clearances, appliances specs, hardware fit or interference, ceiling heights and crown molding design, unlevel floors and ceilings....I could go on and on. Some orders require me to hand-draw a custom cabinet for the factory. And once you get it faxed in....then you wait for the acknowledgement and you have to check it and double check it again! THEN it goes in to production. My clients think they'll get the cabinets 6 wks from when they hand me the deposit. It doesn't work that way. Figure in another week for ordering write up, factory time in processing the order and time for me to double check everything again. Have said all of that, I'm sure there are some freelance KD's out there that could help you out. Maybe Barkers has a list? Do you expect them to take on any fit responsibility to your house? If yes, I would pass. Like Greendesigns said....$300 isn't worth the liability.

While I figure out how to make the plan bigger, here is some info to help you out.

Kitchen 14'6" x 14' (including pantry 14'6" x 18')
Island 8'5" x 5'
Ceiling 9'
Perimeter countertop = dark brown laminate
Island countertop = Light coloured quartz
Perimeter cabinets = Raised square panel, Maple with nutmeg stain
Island cabinets = Raised square panel, Maple with dark brown stain

Appliances will be Stainless steel
Fridge = 36" French door
Range = 30" slide-in range
Hood fan = not decided yet
DW = 24"
Sink = Silgranit Cafe 1 3/4 bowl

I'm not sure what else you need, let me know.

buehl: Sharb's kitchen was the inspiration for my kitchen...I've looked at her pictures sooooo many times, I know them by heart! I absolutely love it!

I was thinking it might be nice to have prep sink on the refrigerator end of the island...it would expand your prepping options.

Since work flow is refrigerator/pantry to sink, usually, and then to the range/oven/MW, it would be nice to have a sink a little closer to the refrigerator/range area. Maybe an 18" sink base on that end.

I'd also think about switching the DW & trash pullout. It would take the DW out of the prepping/cooking area and put the trash pullout so it's accessible to the prep, cooking, and cleanup zones.

Speaking of MWs, where is your MW?

Sorry, I don't have any of that cool software that others have so I can't draw it up for you! (I do all mine either by hand or in PowerPoint...no elevations/3-D look)

What is my brain on??? The dimensions for the kitchen are all wrong...

I'll have to check the dimensions again, but here's a start. How tall do yo want the uppers? Any other changes you see needed? What angles do you want to see?

I have something wrong, because you can see that may space is larger than 14'6 x 14, even though I used your cabinet measurements. The fillers by corner range might be most of it, because it's hard to know what the cabinet plan is there and get everything exactly right with what I know. Is the cabinet at the end by the French door supposed to be 24"? (It wasn't labeled)

I know the cabinet maker said that he won't know how the corner will be until he measures on site, so I can't help you there.
The upper cabinets will reach 8' and then CM will make a box and crown molding to the top, 9'.
We can't decide what kind of hood fan we want, chimney style or just put cabinets all around. I have to admit I like the look of the chimney a lot.
MW does not have a spot yet. CM and hubby want to put it next to the fridge, I'm not sure.

Have you seen a drawing for the cabinets with 12" of crown molding? That seems like a lot to me and I'd want to OK drawings first. I'm wondering why not make the cabinets taller and put less trim? Is cabinet space that much more $$ than messing with that much detailing?

I'd think tucking the microwave right next to the fridge (in the lower shelf of the upper cabinet) is what I'd do in this plan.

Apparently, according to CM, to bring the cabinets to the 9' ceiling would be double the cost. He says it's like adding another kitchen on top price wise.
I'm not crazy about a gap, I don't like putting stuff up there, and all the dust, ugh!
I've seen many pictures, but here's 1 I have on hand.
