Choosing better named kitch faucets

I need to replace a faucet in my kitchen. My sink has 3 holes 3 inches apart and a deck over the wholes.

I want a high arch faucet and 2 knobs I can "kick" with fingers.

I don't want a pull down spray.

I would like satin nickle.My sick is black.

All that stuff said, my research at H/D and Lowes and Amazon and all the discount places online have left me feeling I can't get there. My price range is $250 to $300.

All the reviews are bad on Delta, Moen, American Standard

Kholer. These are good old fashion names and in my price range they get very bad reviews.

Anyone have advice about good online places to buy a solid

faucet set that doesn't drip and lasts like my Grohe for 20 years. Am I aiming to low in price? I look at the reviews in H/D and then out on the web and boy are they different. I want to match stainless steel appliances and think satin nickle is a good choice. Are there others that don't look like polished steel?

I included a picture of the faucets type but don't want the spray because that would be 4 holes. Glacier Bay looks right but in a review they said the faucet fell off.

cheap, cheap.

Delta, Moen, and Kohler are all well regarded on this forum for the most part (there are always some duds and some unhappy customers). My plumber recommended any of those 3 brands when I asked him earlier this year. We have had Moens for years and have been very happy with them. I don't know as much about American Standard. I'd stay away from Glacier Bay from what I have heard.

My plumber recommended buying from a plumbing supply showroom instead of the big box stores, but when I called Moen they verified that the faucets were the same as long as they had the same model number. I bought our main kitchen faucet from the showroom, but when it came time for the prep sink faucet, I bought it online for a significantly lower price. Look for a faucet that feels heavy, and if possible try them out in person before you buy. The installations at the big box stores leave a lot to be desired. That's where a plumbing supply showroom can be very helpful -- and it's a reason to give them your business, if you like to try before you buy. (I didn't have to try out my prep faucet since I just got the little version of the big one, which I love.)

If you need to trim the cost a bit more, go with chrome instead of satin nickel. Yes, it's shiny but it is also classic and (in my experience with our Moens anyway) is pretty bulletproof.

Here are the brands we commonly use and rarely have problems with: Chicago, Moen, Delta, Symmons, Wolverine, California Faucets, and Elkay. Some you will have heard of, some not. You can find out about them at the faucet review link posted by NorthCarolina, above. Stay away from any faucet containing any plastic, especially plastic in the valves.

RM :( I'm so sorry to read your son is still challenged. And more so to see you're on the horrific "diagnostic" road trip literally. I wish there was something that could be done to blow that danged road up....I don't miss it and hate hearing anyone is traveling it. I can only hope you have a short trip! Virtual hugs in the biggest of ways hun! I have only this advice, learned in year three of that road....carry a big purse and a wine opener. You'll be a friend to many a parent if you lock the door to the parent room and crack open a bottle quietly :) Screw tops can be your friends as well. (And for those horrified that one would drink in a hospital...you haven't spent months in one I guarantee). A quiet glass of wine at 11 when the kids are finally asleep and it's marginally quiet (only the sickest kids are making noise that never goes away, soft cries of pain...that glass of wine alone in the dark while you thank god that's not your child every so often is a peace you don't understand). Enough of that....back to the chickens! hm here's a photo of just the backsplash uninstalled. We framed it in nordic black antique granite to make it fit the space it's in (Joe the tile guy rocked!) So the funny thing is....I've had to move (because of my son's health we had to leave alaska) so we have a new house and two kitchens to remodel/build LOL So I get to start planning all over again :) I can't wait to start from the beginning all over again....(which makes you wonder if I do crack does it not? I can't afford it, I have to finance another kitchen LOL). Star thanks for the nag. I missed the first one :) (You're good LOL) I'll work on the worksheet over the next couple of days. :)

We got one of the delta's touch20 for an adjoining powder room. We have had nearly every part replaced and have yet to get it to function with touch less feature! Responsive support hotline but still not functioning. We may have to eat the cost of it since it was purchased prior to jan demo. Ugh! (We need touch less since we raw feed our dog). My DH refuses to chalk it off as a loss at this point, so he has his own little project to focus on. :-)

Nigel-bigel--thanks for your suggestion. It put me back about 10 paces in the decision making process ;P Funny, after reading your post, the carrara looks very BLUE to me! It does seem that all the *perfect* tile is out of my price range ;) Thanks for your tip.... Debrak--Yes. Samples are definitely a good thing! KitchenD--Last nite Ficus started to look kind of dark to me in the artificial light, although it was my gut choice. Like you, I don't find it too "huntery." My new designing idea is that if the color appears in nature, it is a neutral/earth tone. Let's see what kind of trouble I get into with this one. Missybean--The mix-it-up-app is fun! I discovered last nite that Ivy is discontinued. Your bathroom sounds great. Feel like posting a pic? So...this afternoon I took a tile of carrera, my Hakatai samples and my Sherwin Williams paint chip book to Lowes to compare it to the cabinets. I like how the Meadow looks with the chestnut stained cherry that we are getting. I love how the Mint Ice looks with it, as well. I was a bit freaked by the Divinity white cabinet paint next to the carrara. Definitely the marble looked stark white and blue. Plus, the white subway backsplash added its own white to the mix. I am sure (fingers crossed) that once it is all up it will work. Right? Right? (Please nod on cue.) I think I am going to use both the Meadow and the Mint Ice or Ice Green (they both look exactly the same to me). And I guess I will paint the remaining walls cream. Choices overload. Feel free to continue to weigh in. It is nice to have someone to discuss these things with ;)

StarCraft Custom Builders…thank you for the AMAZINGLY thorough faucet reviews you have on your website! I just read the one for California Faucets (took a little while, but totally worth the effort). I found this thread because I was searching to see what other people’s experiences have been with California Faucets in particular. I just placed a very large and very expensive fixtures order from them two days ago; today my contractor came by and as we were reviewing what I ordered he suddenly realized this is the same brand he’s been having major issues with in another remodel he’s doing. He said something like 4 out of 5 faucets had leakage problems and it took forever to get replacement parts sent out - and even then it didn’t fix the problems. (He said one of the faucets has had an ongoing problem for six months, yikes!!) I wanted to make sure the issues he was describing weren’t maybe due to my contractor and his experience with the product line, so I did some additional research and called my local Ferguson showroom. I have a long relationship with Ferguson and their customer service people confirmed that they currently have several open ticket issues for California Faucets which seem to point to manufacturing defects. My wall-mount lavatory and shower fixtures are going into marble slabs, so now I’m very, very concerned and thinking I should cancel this order ASAP rather than risk having problems with parts that are behind slabs and inaccessible for fixing if anything fails….. not to mention, I have to wait 12 weeks just to get the fixtures themselves. It looks like the info on your website is pretty recent, and it is a glowing review of both their quality and their service. I would like to believe that these are great faucets and I won’t have any problems but now I am definitely spooked. As someone else said, their finishes are beautiful and I really don’t want to scrap this whole thing and start over but I also don’t wanna have any nightmares a few weeks down the road. What to do…..what to do?!?!?!

These answers are good for me. Yes, I must find a plumbing outfit and they must have a ceramic disc if that is the term.

Online buying in this area is so disappointing at my price point. I haven't looked at your attachments but hope upon hope it leads to me to good products. Home Depot and such have me looking up at untouchable merchandise. I liked when they had an upscale store.
