Soap Dispenser Question

I've never had a soap dispenser so probably wouldn't miss one, but they sure look convenient. My question is...just how durable are they? Do they seem to last (workable) as long as the rest of the facuet set up or seem to wear out after a couple of years? If they break how easy are they to replace or repair? It drives me crazy to have things that do not work as they are suppose too (I guess it's my OCD kicking in). I'd just as soon not have one if it's only going to be useful a short time. Thanks

I have an older dispenser (so take that for what its worth) and I hardly ever fill it anymore. I only used it for hand soap but it was forever leaking, clogging, and not pumping right. This is our second dispenser in 13 years. I will probably not get one again.

My Kohler one seems pretty tough. It works really smoothly and well. (it lost some of its finish though; not sure why). I've only had it about 5 years, but I expect it to work for a long, long time.

They're very easy to replace--they just slide through the hole in the countertop, and you screw the bolt on from underneath.

I like that the soap doesn't move around, doesn't wobble when I push on it, etc. But I've found that it's not that easy to clean, actually--a freestanding dispenser can be washed like a dish, and I can just wipe the countertop where it sat.

Do you have a single sink, or a double? I have a double and I put in on the side where I would soak dishes. It all depends on where you would use it most. Left or right? Some people have their dishwashers on the left, some on the right, and have different ways of washing their dishes, so it's more which side YOU would use. Also depends on where it would fit. Remember the bottle sits below the counter, so there has to be enough room for that. You wouldn't want to drill the hole and not be able to fit the bottle underneath because it hits the side of the cabinet or the sink or something! That said, there's also something called Never MT. It's a tube/contraption that goes from your dispenser and is attached to a Costco sized soap bottle under your sink. If you're going that route, make sure you have room to place that big bottle underneath. (P.S., I have the Never MT and love it! It's there since end of September and haven't thought about it since.)

We have the Perrin and Rowe traditional bench mounted soap dispenser and i'm currently looking to replace it. It hasn't worked since day one. The company has sent a complete replacement unit which also doesn't work. The only way of getting it to work is to dilute the soap to a watery consistency but then the pump doesn't stay primed- it runs back down so you have to pump multiple times to get it to start squirting again. It's a shame because it looks beautiful.

I love mine. I wasn't going to get one because I don't like the one we have in our other home but the plumbing house sales lady said they are simple to refill by pouring the detergent in the top. Well I knew that didn't work very well with my other one so I still nixed the idea. Then I read here about the NeverMT and at the last minute decided to go with it. I am very glad I did. I use dawn and also use it to wash my hands. Love my soap dispenser and love my NeverMT.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question, but I'll take a stab at an answer. I also bought a Moen faucet from Ebay and the owner gave me a free soap dispenser (Moen Aberdeen). There should be a plastic bottle that attaches to the unit to hold the soap. It screws in to the dispenser just like screwing a cap on. If this was not supplied, you can buy a Never MT (highly recommended). This is a $8.00 purchase that allows you to hook up to a large bottle of detergent so you don't have to fill the soap dispenser but maybe once a year (based on usage and bottle size). It's easy to install too. People here swear by it, and I learned about it from this forum and have one also. You can read more about it from the attached link. Very happy with 2 KWC Primo dispensers - 2+ years old, no problems with finish or function. Would be very easy to replace if necessary. They were pretty expensive and I expect them to last. Simple styling and good design - no place for water to get into it or soap to leak out - so easy to clean.

I've had soap dispensers in my kitchens for the last 20 years~wouldn't be without one. I've had to replace one because the pump assembly went wonky but that's it. I love the convenience and clearner look of a built in. I'm using Delta dispensers in this kitchen but in the past have been happy with the generic models at Home Depot....
