Okay, we finally got the look we wanted on the hinges. These started out as flat, nickel plated hinges, very shiny. DH bent them to make them into offset, cut the third hole off the bent side and reshaped the metal, heated till red hot twice to get the nickel plating off. Then I buffed with scotch brite pad, buffed again, painted with matte acrylic spray, and gave a touch of rub-n-buff to the detailed area. It took way too much time, but I thing the end result looks like an old vintage hinge, just what I wanted since our farmhouse is over 100 years old. What do you think? Terry

i chose chrome for faucet and potfiller. for the exact reason you stated. more timeless.... and finally something i wanted was the cheaper version of itself. it's also attractive. i like shiny things. i'm a crow like that. my appliances are ss and i have white cabs, black and white tile floor on diagonal, and wicked white granite on island, absolute black on perimeter. white subway tile bs.

If you don't want open ended pulls check out Hickory Harwares Greenwich collection. They come in approximately the same sizes that you listed. They have a contemporary/european look. I got mine at a local cabinet and hardware store for less money than the online sites. Maybe your kitchen person can find a local place that handles them or you can search the following sites that were listed on Hickory Harwares website as Authorized Online Decorative Retailers: Shop Hickory Hardware Pullsdirect.com Home Depot KnobsandHardware.com For my kitchen I used 10 inch pulls on all my regular height cabinets and on my 17 inch drawers. I used the 13 inch pulls on my 24 inch drawers and 19 inch pulls on my 36 inch drawers. My 13 inch drawers have the 6 inch pull on them as does one 15 inch cabinet door. The pulls are a brushed stainless steel finish. They are a nice quality and not too expensive. The item number and sizes that I used are listed below just in case you might be interested. Danze is known for its high style and reasonable price. When asked about this or any other brand I always reply that you get what you pay for i.e. you can many times get a great looking Danze fixture for 50% of the cost of a high end fixture like Grohe. I also believe you have to look at how long will you be using this fixture or staying in this home? If not forever why spend the money on Grohe when if all things failed including Danze's guarantee you could still go out and buy another one and probably not spend as much as you would for some others. With that said I have a Grohe Bridgeford pull down(replaced the worst Kohler ever made) and love it and always kiddingly tell people I drive a Mercedes (a very old one) and so I like German things so I bought the Grohe. As far as other brands at reasonable costs I feel that quality and guarnatee wise Moen is hard to beat. They have since 1985 had a lifetime guarnatee and I read at least once per week where they have replaced an entire faucet for someone that was so old parts couldnt be gotten for it. Thats hard to beat. For a good price comparison on several brands, someone else mentioned National Builders Supply, and in interest of fairness Ive made no secret that I know the owners personally(really nice folks) and they own another online site called "danze factory outlet" I think. If nothing else the NBS website will give you the chance to look at most every brand from Danze to Grohe and everything in between whether you buy anything from them or not. I hope this helps.
