Backsplash - cant decide

Im in the home stretch of my kitchen remodel. Cabinets are Kraftmaid honey spice Maple (pretty light).

My counters are Vitoria Regia:

This granite has some tiny beautiful red copper color accents marks.....

my floors are metallika COPPER:

My backsplash has been narrowed down to two - Eclipse Beige with some copper glass as accent: http://www.arizonatile.com/ECLIPSE-P876C6.aspx

or Eclipse Beige with WaterColor glass in OCEAN in a strip as an accent and also to use as some kind of design over sink/stove:

If we had the money we might consider using the WC glass alone - but its expensive, and also a bit dark.

Also considerng an off white subway tile with either glass colors.....

Im leaning towards my original choice of Eclipse Beige with the copper glass, as it will blend in more, brighten the kitchen and keep it in the warm tones that I wanted.

I love the look of the Ocean glass too - we might end up waiting till the counters are in - but thats not till end of November.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear you are liking it. Now as to grout - that's another decision. Using double-sided sticky tape, adhere leftover tile pieces to a smallish piece of plywood (or other - shouldn't be flexible). You want a smaller piece, so it can fit under your uppers and rest on the countertop. Then, mix up a small batch of your grout choice and slap on to your sample board per directions. Clean up and wait a day to let the grout color dry, then see how you like the effect. Take pictures of it in place, then chip off the pieces of tile (hammer and screwdriver) (very easy), and repeat with next grout sample if desired. If you have enough left over tile, do multiple at the same time. To give you an idea, here are some I did recently. These were just grouted.

Your choices are lovely. Since I recently did my kitchen, so I share your backsplash pain. A couple of thoughts: Grout samples of smaller tiles that you’re considering and see how you like the look before you commit. There was a mix of grey and white marble mosaics that I liked - until I saw a grouted sample. The reason my contractor and I decided against arabesque is that the spaces between the tiles won’t be even - look very closely at example photos - so it would take a lot more work to do properly, especially since I wanted colored grout. The size of the tiles also varied slightly. Oddly, this was true even on large machine made arabesques. I didn’t want to spend the time and money on them. After much searching, I have the spirit of arabesque (married to Mod?) in these Walker Zanger tiles, which I really like. I’m not suggesting these as an option for you - the colors are very limited - rather to give you ideas about alternatives to arabesque.

I think your post is fine, not sure what she means. You definitely have some good choices, but without the cabinet doors on, it is hard to tell. Personally, I like the one in the 3rd picture. If your cabinets are white, do you want something with some color? What does the floor look like?

I like your cabinets. Is that first photo your countertop? It looks very white. I like them. Do you have to chose one of those options for a backsplash? Is that your wood floor? I feel like the backsplash tiles are going to be too dark and on the gray side rather than the cream that is in your cabinets. I wish you could take a photo further away. I wonder if a lighter color closer to the color of your counter might be a better option.

If you have a picture account with photobucket or flicker you can copy and paste the code. For photobucket all you have to do is below the thumbnail of your picture where it says "HTML" copy that code and then paste it in the gardenweb message box and your picture will appear in your post.

I would definitely do someting light. The countertops are very dark and the floor is too. The cabinets are probably medium but I like a kitchen that has some variety of tones - not all dark, not all white/neutral monochromatic. Personally, it would depress me to have something as dark as the waterglass ocean for a BS and it would take away from that unique granite. Great idea to wait until the slabs are installed and after that you can post pictures and get better input. (Posting pictures isn't hard but it helps if they are already at a site like flickr, picasa, etc - not just the suppliers website.)

Yea southern belle - Im thinking the same thing. Im sick today, have the sample tiles - and will try to take my own pics and post - they just never look come out right.

I would definitely go with the copper. It really coordinates with the gold tones in your beautiful granite. I think the green backsplash takes away from the granite, there is nothing to for the eye to stop at. It would be like one big green blob. To bring out the beauty in your granite and pull everything together, go with the copper backsplash.

I would wait till the cabinets and counters are in before you decide on BS.
