Missed your other thread. Getting the dishes out of that corner will be huge. Also separating the sink and DW with a cabinet will help enormously.

Gotta say I prefer the ovens out of the way, as in your existing layout. In the new plan, maybe switch the wall ovens with the dish storage?

Or, keep the range and sink and ovens in their existing locations, but put the DW where you show trays in the drawing. Put dish drawers next to the DW on the penninsula end. Not moving plumbing and electric and venting will save a bundle! (More $$$ for the fun stuff!)

Thanks for the suggestions. Here's a link to the other thread...my other concern is the mw, right now it's eating up a ton of space on the counter (though not particularly useful counter.

If I put the dish storage next the to the dishwasher, then where do I put the trash???? In the current kitchen set up, there is no good place for trash.

Right now when you walk in the room the most prominent area is the corner where the mw is now.

I don't know how I've managed, but I've always had a cooktop/wall oven set up...not sure I'll like a range.

One other issue I've thought of. I need a good place to store small to medium size appliances (kitchen aid mixer, large food processor, waffle iron, and panini grill).

Looking for anyother feed back....any one get better layout if I combine the Kitchen and nook, I'm willing to move an exterior wall (I'm thinking the bump in between the kitchen and nook). If that gives me a place for my double ovens,then I might consider the cost.

While cost is a consideration, if I can get everything I want, I will spend the money. This is the place I'm going to be raising the kids in.

When you say a moderate amt of baking, do you mean frequency or quantity? i.e. 6 times a week you bake bread(1 oven, every day) or 1 time a week you bake 8 dozen cookies(2 ovens, once a week) or some amalgamation of the two? Would a combo microwave/convection oven stacked with another oven work for you? or do you need two full sized ovens?

Are you willing to remove the inverted V part of the window and make it straight? I don't know if this is in the budget. If you can do that, I think you will have a more flexible space to work with. I also see that you are willing to give up some of the nook to the kitchen. Your new design does not change the cramped nature of the current kitchen and I wonder about storage of dishes and other items. Also, the walkway to the nook and dining room are below standard of 42-48".

If you are able to use some of the nook, I see a galley kitchen with a large seating island where you can have all your storage and dish washing section if you want.

Did you ever consider continuing the sink angle and rounding the end of the penisula as a table, instead of having a separate table?
The radius would be the opposite of your radius wall on the other side, might look nice
You would end up with a longer counter and I think it would flow better.

A second option would be to switch the dining area with the kitchen, but that may be out of your budget:)

laxsupermom -I do bake once a week (usually a batch of cookies/cupcakes/cakes where I use both ovens) and use the double ovens maybe once a month. At Christmas time, I make at ton of cookies and quick breads so both ovens get heavy use. I had a stacked oven micro before the double ovens...I didn't like the location of the micro because there was no place to put hot things down coming out of the microwave. Can you bake cookies in a convection micro?

homepro1 - I would consider getting rid of the v (it may be in the budget), but would only consider it if I really got something that met all my requirements. I didn't think the room was wide enough for an island, even if I got rid of the v. It's only 11' wide at the narrow point due to the curved staircase. The walkways are 36" now (minus the fridge sticking out) and other the the fridge conflict, it's not too bad as the path from the dinning room to the kitchen area is not a busy one.

sunnyd - I'm having trouble picturing what you are talking about re: "continuing the sink angle and rounding the end of the penisula as a table." Not sure about switching the dining and the kitchen. I want to have space for at least one dinning table that can seat 8. I also want a casual area for kids breakfast/lunch and homework/crafts (my oldest is 5 and requires help to do howework).

bmore- Thanks for posting that...I was trying to play with something, but couldn't get it to work. With this layout, would you have the curved part at Counter height? The layout seems to use the dead area better than the banquette option. Would also save me having to raise the windows for the baquette to have a back for seating.

Ok, so I played with the layout some more...Things I like:

1. Get extra hutch for dishes/glassware
2. Get baking center
3. Don't move any appliances (keep 36" cooktop & double wall ovens)
4. Don't have to shorten nook windows for banquette
5. Keep a table in the kitchen
6. Don't have to by Counter Depth Fridge

Let me know what you guys think...I'm going for the beach casual look. I'm a little concerned that the angles my look a little too contemporary, but hoping I could get over it with the cabinet choice. In this version, the pantry would probably be divided into several areas, baking stuff in the bake center, coffee tea in the corner where the coffee maker is now, snacks in the hutch for the kids, other items in the wall cabinets.

So, here it is...

I like this last layout a lot. The round shape of the eating penninsula mimics the circular staircase. There's plenty of storage and I like the stepped back effect of the hutch dropping back to the Frig dropping back to the ovens. Any chance you could place your MW in the top of the bottom half of your hutch behind doors? It would be more convenient to frig and nook for kids and you could make the space to the left of the ovens a true baking center. It would drive me nuts if I was rolling out cookies and there was someone underneath me making popcorn.

laxsupermom- I had the same thought last night while not getting much sleep. I will figure out a way to get that MW in the hutch. My other thought at 2am was to switch the baking center and the double ovens so that I could have a 30" deep baking center. Plus the baking center could double as a landing spot for the fridge. I'm guessing it would not cost too much to move the electrical for the oven.
