I've just ordered the canvas with cocoa glazing and have gone through at least 8 different counter top choices and am starting over! I cannot find anything I like. Viatera Royal Teak looked GREAT with the cabinets, but too busy and outdated said one. Plus I have one wall of bricks which is really hard to find something to look good with that and faux colored walls?! Anyone? anyone? Nancy Jara - I was told to go for the all plywood cabinets.

Thanks for photos. Friend (with good color sense) came over and suggested off white cabinets with a glaze. She said stark white wouldn't work. She also said painting cabs a coffee color would create a richer look than even the glazed cabs. That gives me MUCH to think about! Don't know how golden oak floors and stainless appliances will fit in with these new ideas. Might look again at Uba tuba. I've seen lots of kitchen pics with Uba and white cabs. Very clean look.

Ok, my opinion differs from the others above. Pick out the different colors of white cabinet door samples you like & borrow them when you go to the stone yard. Then when you find the different granites you like, rest the cabinet samples against it all in a line, take a step back and see what you think of the combinations. Once you've decided which granite & which color white cabinet then you can coordinate backsplash color with the cabinet & granite samples. We really liked white cab with pewter glaze & the off-white cabs with chocolate or coffee glaze. I was leaning toward the off-white ones. We also knew we wanted a dark stained island--either cherry, merlot or espresso. I thought I wanted a very uniform patterned granite like New Venetian Gold or Giallo Ornamental. When we got to the stoneyard however, I was drawn to a totally non-uniform granite. By process of elimination, we worked out that the merlot stained cabs went best with that granite for the island. The white cabs looked ok with that granite but it didn't really 'pop', so we took all our samples around the yard some more and found a dark granite we liked that coordinated well with the white cabs as well as the stained cabs and the other granite. Then it was just a matter of which color white and which glaze. Again, resting the cab samples against the granite slabs helped tremendously and we ended up selecting the white cab with pewter glaze. If we hadn't done it this way, I know we would have taken MUCH longer to make our decisions, there would have been alot more running around between cab place and granite place, we would have second-guessed ourselves much more and I probably would have gotten heat stroke in the stoneyard (it was the middle of June). Just my $0.02 based my experience with the white kitchen... Hope this helps!

NervousNancy... Our pendants and DR chandelier are Murray Feiss and I purchased them at EXPO Design Center (owned by HD). There are 2 finishes...ours are in Antique Pewter. There's also a Grecian Bronze (similar to ORB, I think). The DR chandelier isn't very big b/c our DR is small. They do have larger chandeliers, if you're interested in those as well. P1095AP - 1-Light Morningside F2050/5AP - 5-Light Morningside Our faucet is the Kohler Vinnata® Kitchen Sink Faucet (K-690) in Vibrant Brushed Nickel with the handle on the right. The handle location is adjustable: it can be on the left, right, or middle...it's up to you. The nice thing about being adjustable is that if you don't have enough room behind the faucet for the handle to work properly, you just mount it in the front. We bought it at FaucetDirect.com. There are 8 finishes and it comes in 2 sizes (main sink, the one we have, and prep version (K-691), which is a couple of inches smaller). We love our location as well! Actually, we're on a 3-acre lot w/a street on the other side of the berm in the back then a horse farm/farm under agricultural preservation. We do have neighbors...across the street from the front yard and on either side of us...you just can't see them from our back windows! Plus, we planted a double row of evergreens on one side to block the NW wind that also blocks our view of that house (to the right). Our neighbors on the other side planted a row of pear trees so we didn't feel we could plant evergreens there. But, they're farther away so it's not a big deal...plus we have nice neighbors! Looking at the pictures again, I just realized that those are the pics taken before I cleaned the granite! So, it still has the granite dust on them from the work they did when installing the sink side. (The other side is not done yet, the granite is just placed on the counters, not aligned or secured. We're waiting for a replacement for the cabinet they damaged when they began the install on that wall.) Good luck on your choices & welcome!
