I am somewhat hesitant to say "no it won't work" because I've been there myself and made it work, but is it optimal? No, it would be better, because you have no other brass in the room, to go with a silvery finish. But, do you have nay other accent colors in your metals? My stove knobs are both silver and gold, and my lighting is also both siver and gold, so in my kitchen, I could go silver and gold easily. I'm wondering, is the fixture you love available in dual tone, with perhaps just small silver accents? That would be PERFECT!

Then there's the custom lighting I did in my entry and library...all in shiny chrome (art deco style). Well then we made the mistake of redo'ing our horrible oak wall. I love the new wall, but the accent work on it is done in....you guessed it, gold :o( So, given the opportunity, I'd have liked the lighting to be gold as well, but because it's a library/living room, I'm able to bring the metal tones into my decorating through useof accent lamps and other decorative pieces. I don't know how well you can do that in either a kitchen or dining room. Have you looked around? Do you have anything with both tones?

I'm totally with you on going with the amber shades. My autumn cherry cabinets look fabulous with the amber glass and my amber light globes.

So I guess my one suggested way to make this work...is to somehow add that touch of silver into the lighting. Is that possible?
