amount of filler to use with refrigerator in corner against wall
Comments (6)Same problem here, and I have 3 inches between the frige and the wall, on the right. I have a Kenmore Elite french door bottom freezer. The deli drawer can be placed on either the left or right. Since my wall is on the right, the shallow deli drawer has to be on the left, no way to move it and I'm not sure if it would open out if it were on the right. Yes, you can pull the fridge out for deep cleaning, or to change shelves, but that's a hassle not worth it, if there is any opportunity to move it. Something else to think about: In order for the right door to remain open, I have to open the right crisper drawer, and that holds it open, for when I need to put in a large item which requires two hands. On my model, the right side crisper does pull out all of the way, even with the door hitting the wall. In other words, it's manageable, but not the best set up. Mine also has a slide back shelf, very nice for taller items that wouldn't fit otherwise. It's on the right. I guess it could be moved, but when shopping, be sure and check all those things out. If your wall is on the right, be sure you can adjust things properly. I was dealing with it, and really torn as DH didn't want me moving too many things. But, my designer and my cabinet guy (also a KD) have both recommended that I give up having counterspace right next to the fridge for the importance of being able to open both doors wide. I agree with them. There is counterspace that will be a little less than 3 ft away, so I'm moving mine across the room. Landing space is important, but as long as it's not too far away, try to get the fridge in a position where those doors can open!...See MoreNeed Ideas for Best Use of 15 Inch Base Cabinet Space
Comments (10)I am now looking at buying the Marvel 15 inch beverage/wine fridge which has dual zone temp control with range from 40-65F. The 3BARM "Luxury" model can store 4 bottles of wine and 60 12oz cans. It has 4 shelfs, some that are adjustable to accommodate taller items. I am limited to the 15 inch wide model because I am pulling out my old trash compactor which was never used and that's the only space I have. I am less concerned about actual wine storage and prefer having more storage for sodas and water. Marvel also has the 3SBARE 15 inch "Chateau" model which is more expensive and it can only hold 4 wine bottles and 36 cans. I think it has a larger compressor and that takes up more of the storage space. The Chateau has a few nicer esthetic features (glass shelves, glide out vs pullout etc.) but I think the electronics and basic configuration is the same between the two models. I can get the 3BARM for $1400 or the 3SBARE for $1650... I am thinking of going with the less expensive model to get the additional storage capacity. Thanks again for everyone's input! Really helped :) Here is a link that might be useful: Marvel 15 Inch Wine/Beverage Fridge...See MoreWhat creative things have you done to increase storage space?
Comments (24)Hi Colleen! I would love to see pictures as you go through your master bath remodel! I'll eventually be remodeling my main bathroom and the 1/2 bath in the master. In the main bath I'm taking out the tub/shower surround and replacing with a "petite" claw foot tub, no shower. New toilet, new vanity/sink, and a small baker's rack for extra storage. Putting in a medicine cabinet/mirror, frosting the window so I don't need a window treatment, and a new towel rack. Also new flooring, paint, fan, light. I'm not sure what I'm doing in the 1/2 bath, except I know I'm stealing a little room from the bedroom to put in a walk-in shower. SO...I'd love to see your progress and hear about the whole experience! Do you have colors and flooring, etc. picked out yet? Haha! Cathy--so true about the garden tub. :-)...See MoreNeed more clearance between wall ovens and refrigerator
Comments (2)Its an L shape. It's tight but from the corner of the L we have 19 inches of counter, then wall ovens, then fridge then wall that is 28 inches in depth. So fridge needs to be out a few inches from the wall to clear the little bit that sticks out and then I would like a few inches to stay clear of oven doors. I definitely don't mind the ovens because I would use them the least but wondered if it was bringing more traffic into a tighter space. If ovens are on the end then the island directly behind me would be the landing space for hot stuff. I don't know if that would bother me as I have always had counter right next to my oven and not had to turn....See Moresue_ct
