Comments (6)Thanks As of this morning 2-9- We are back to brushed nickel hardware. DH saw a home improvement show this AM and they were highly recommending the Brushed nickel pulls. DH has seldom expressed an opinion with the remodeling - NOT his thing- I am perfectly a ok with the brushed nickel. I dont recall who on the GW showed pictures of her kitchen with the pulls installed horizontally on uppers as well. Loved how it was eye pleasing. So am going to "copy" the idea in my very narrow galley /l shaped kitchen....See MoreFinish OTHER Than Nickel or Pewter, Etc for White Kitchen
Comments (10)Thanks--you've all been reassuring and have made me feel so much better. While I'm thrilled to have these decisions to make, I'm starting to seriously second guess myself. rosie-I'm intrigued. Do you mean look for solid brass hardware? Any specific suggestions? I'll start searching, but there's so much out there and I've found it's hard to tell sometimes exactly what is what! rmkitchen-I LOVE your kitchen and all of your choices are dead-on. For some reason, I'm simply not "feeling" the nickel/chrome for my kitchen. By the way, you're one of the key reasons I'm feeling good about both the marble and ordering from Grothouse Lumber. There's still a very slight chance I'll go with a dark brown granite, if it's exactly right, but I'm pretty sold on the wood....See Moresatin nickel, pewter or antique pewter pulls with chrome faucet?
Comments (13)Hi everybody! Thank you for all your support and Capegirl05 for your empathy! The countertops will be Yellow River granite with an ogee edge. I will have a beadboard chimney shaped hood over the cooktop which will match the cabinets. I also have an pot rack that I have had for quite a few years from William Sonoma that I would like to use over the island (just not sure how that will look but I thought I would try it since it's pretty and gives me more space in the cabinets for other pots and pans). I'm looking for a Country French/vintage look with the fluted apron front sink. I don't want anything super contemporary. We have a pine table made from old wood with farmhouse legs. I did buy a kind of transitional light fixture from Pottery Barn in polished nickel (with two glass pendants that hang). That seems fine with the chrome faucet. Today I went to the only place around where I could see the knobs but unfortunatley, they only had the antique pewter and I couldn't see the Tob Knobs satin nickel. I did see the pewter light and that I discounted right away as being too light gray. A good friend of mine was so kind to come with me. (We surrepticiously unscrewed knobs from the display board, put them on my cabinet I had brought, looked at them and then re-screwed them all without a screwdriver and returned them to the board!) My friend is a proponent of knobs on cabinets and the pulls on the drawers and he found Top Knobs M 351 in brushed satin to go along with the pull I like that I linked above. I will put it below. He and another friend feel I shouldn't do all pulls. He is voting for the satin nickel knob and pull. It is certainly a bit cheaper to put the knobs on the cabinets than pulls everywhere but I don't want that to be the decision maker. My other friend likes the antique pewter. It was interesting I noticed the same knob looked too dark in the antique pewter and I don't even mind the satin nickel knob with the antique pewter pull. I will have ss appliances, this pot rack over the island that is a darkish ss. So after today I can say pewter is out, but I'm still torn between the satin nickel (which I didn't see today) and the antique pewter that I did see. And of course all pulls or pulls and knobs. AYYYY. I guess I need some kind of reassurance that I haven't screwed everything up by having so many metals. Please keep the posts coming. They are helping me so much! Comments (7)I took some pics of the three pulls I am mainly considering. One is in PN b/c that is all they had and the other two are brushed nickel. After looking at them, I think I might be ok with the brushed nickel. Here are all three. Bottom is obviously the polished one. It is the one I thought I would like the best too, until I got them all installed (this is in my current mudroom, not future kitchen--cabinets aren't installed yet). The top is Jeff Alexander Belcastel, second is a Hickory pull that looks very similar to JA Bremen and last is JA Tiffany. I think I like Belcastel! I thought I might avoid the squarer look b/c my pendants are rounded, but I think it is my favorite. Here is a view of the two I like the best. Would love opinions....See Moremountaineergirl
