You have alot of options. What rooms, if any is your kitchen open to and what colors either run through your home or do you like? Are you a warm color person, autumn colors, cool blues...etc? Also, do you want a more contemporary look with glass tile or do you prefer a traditional look. One last parameter... Do you prefer understated or pops of color? Your stone looks beautiful and instinct tells me to allow that to be your centerpiece with a backsplash that will help highlight and compliment it. If you give me some input as to glass, ceramic, stone... I'll know better where to start to help you.

Hi remodelfla, thanks for the response! My kitchen opens to a breakfast nook, and has a wide doorway to the living room. Right now my home is a blank slate and has no color as the walls are all still white. The breakfast nook does have a couple of large windows that have trees for a backdrop.

I also believe I'd prefer a more traditional look, and have been leaning more towards using a ceramic tile (although I'm sure my husband would like a natural stone).

How about bringing the Bianco Romano up for a full height backsplash? You have what appears to be a large space and I think the size would support the "weight" of a full height granite backsplash. Bianco Romano is a beautiful stone! Just an idea or course.

Check out Lisa 226's post thread by using the search function at the bottom of the opening page. I think it says something like "I think I hate my backsplash" or something similar. My point is that I thought her backsplash treatment was beautiful - both the buttercream tile (which she tore down) and the white tile that she replaced it with. I don't know how to include a link to that thread.

I think I would pull out a color from your granite and go with that for the backsplash in a nice tile. Do you have a close up of your granite so I can get a better idea of the colors in there?

Thanks for the ideas and pics remodelfla and jb1176. I took a look at Lisa's oatmeal tile and subway backsplashes, and really thought they both looked beautiful in her home. I've actually been leaning towards using a plain white subway, but I believe my husband would like some color in the mix.

Would a white subway or diamond tile work in my kitchen? I don't have as fancy a kitchen as Lisa, LJSandler or Meg.

I'm still open to color, but I've visited a few tile stores and am having a heck of a time finding a tile that really picks up a color in the granite. There are so many beautiful stone tiles that just look too gold/yellow to suit this granite. Sigh, this little decision seems to be consuming so much of my time lately.

Why not use a ceramic subway in white with a liner bar and smaller inserts in glass to pick up a color in your stone?
