It might be the blue tape and the blue spacers...but what I see is a "cool" grey backsplash and a "warm" grey counter...that's one of the early things I learned in graphic design, the differences between warm and cool neutrals and when you put the two together they clash...If your cabs are maple (I'm guessing warm) then this backsplash might really look off...

Sorry to say I don't think it works. Can you find a warm tone that matches the "creaminess" of the granite background? Have you seen Redroze's kitchen?

I guess I thought the same earlier on when I selected this tile, which is why I set it aside. This is another choice I went with, but wasn't sure if I would regret it later down the road. I don't want to be plain with just a white backspalsh, which is why I'd like to throw color into the backsplash.

terriks - THANK YOU! I cannot figure out how to post pictures in the message. I know the blue tape doesn't help with the grey and blue green tile. I agree the second one definitely picks ups the red in the granite. I'm just not sure if I should mix it with another tile or just by itself. I think it maybe to busy all glass tile. I'd like to use it as an accent, but don't want to use it with a stark white subway tile, maybe a matte?

The red-tone set is much better. Warm, inviting, intentional.

I like the red one. Or I'd put in a plain white/cream and let your counters sing.

Of the two you posted, I also vote red. But I think it might be too dark. I think something like Sonoma's tile San Marco blend would look nice with your lovely granite--just a touch of red, and a lot of other, soft, warm tones. (The one on the left...)

I like the color mix in the sonoma tile that chipongo posted. I also think "oyster grey" or "oyster white" could work with your kitchen. Here's a couple of links but they aren't very good representations of what i've seen in stores.

Chipongo - I love the sonoma tile. I'm trying to find a showroom so I can get a sample, unfortunatley I needed to be a designer to get into the showroom in NYC. I stopped in the HD today and saw the red glass tile installed. I actually like it what do you think seeing installed. Sorry I didn't get to rotate the picture.

To me bianco romano is on the busy side, so I would put a non-busy backsplash. Eg. pulling pale cream and doing just that color like muranogirls pale cream backsplash or pulling pale gray from it and doing just that color like ni_2006's pale gray ceramic tile.

Here is a pale glass tile backsplash in a color that is not pulled from the countertop. (Grout lines make it slightly busy.)

Someone recently posted a frosted white glass subway tile with stainless tile just at the range that was gorgeous. You could use 2x8s or soldier pattern or a "blend" of frosted and clear glass to make it more modern.

I am not sure but I like the red one without the brown marble emperador! Do you live near a home depot or lowes? Go look at the mahoghany glass tile. I think it is Belsol. they have it in white as well as other colors(that won't work with yours) How about a splash of the belsol and use a plain 4 by 4 or subway tile? I think they have the Belsol in many sizes and it would look sharp with the red in the stone. Good luck. Let me know if this works or if not your style.

peytonroad - I'm trying to find a glass tile without the brown marle look. I was thinking of my very original plan of 2x8 matte subway and a strip of the red glass (not what I have posted) the picture of the brownish red terriks posted for me without the marble look. I guess I'll be going back to the tile store this weekend.
