Can someone Photoshop me a Porch?
Comments (18)I am going to resurrect this post, in the hopes that someone stumbles on it for me :-) Background - Most everyone will use this entrance. I don't know how deep it is going to be. Other features of the house that will be changed -- I want to do a siding and rock/stone combo of some sort, ditch the brick I want to do two window dormers over the garage. And the window to the right will be a double window. So.... that leaves this entry. I am just not digging it. I know the draft lady did this because the other plan I liked so well had huge grand entries, and I was torn between it and the country plan with big front porch. I have seen many that I like better, but thought I would see what anyone else liked :-) We are real country folk, and this porch will get used regularly. The way the circle drive is, in relation to the front door and the back door, I think most visitors will stop at the top of the circle and go right up to the front door, rather than park and then walk all the way around to the back. I dont have a color scheme yet. My barns are barn red with white trim, but they arent side by side or anything. Oh, will probably do a metal roof. If not the whole house, at least the porch. Thanks for any help. :-) Here is a link that might be useful: 1st Draft...See MoreMy reveal - Two-tone, modest budget
Comments (39)parts-I did not use a light rail. With the tape they go up pretty flush so you don't need to. Plus, my KD had contractor mount them on the front rail so that they are even less likely to be noticed and they tend to light the mid-back of the counter better - which seems to work nicely bc overhead lights get the front part of the counter. I've attached a picture so I think you can see what I mean. However, I will say this...when I'm in the DR, I can see the undersides of the cabs a little. It drives me a little batty. So I'm thinking about getting the paint matched and slapping a couple coats on the underside so the cream view doesn't get broken up. (I don't know if that will help and I plan to ask KD before I do it, maybe it's a terrible idea?!) So I don't know if a light rail would have helped to cover that issue? Yes, they are full overlay. However, this is probably one of the places where a cab line a step or two up would have been better. There is def a small gap between cabs. Completely within reason for the specs given, but bigger than I have seen in other more expensive lines. Doesn't bother me enough to have spent more for less gap, though! :)...See MoreMy two tone kitchen reveal sans backsplash
Comments (28)I haven't been here in a while, I have missed seeing and hearing about all the new kitchens! I thought I would post an update, now that we have lived with our kitchen for over a year. I really love my two tone cabinets, the cherry base cabinets are warm and inviting and the mushroom wall cabinets keep the kitchen from being too dark. After all the angst of the decision, I am so glad I went with the solid wall of cabinets. And I am still in awe of my granite, do not for one single second regret the money spent on it! We ended up doing a stacked beige subway tile for the backsplash, with a herringbone pattern behind the range and I am very happy with my choice. As for appliances, I still love my microwave drawer, I use it every day and the only complaint I have is that the panel doesn't light up well. And I absolutely adore my fridge, love it so much we got the same one for my son! The produce drawer is still my favorite feature, and the ice maker my least favorite. We have never run out of ice, but we are a small family and when we have company, we always use bagged ice. But I can see this being an issue for a larger family without a second fridge with ice maker. I am very happy with my Bosch dishwasher, it does a great job and I've never had the goop issue some were having when I bought mine. The big miss in my kitchen is the range, I should have gone with induction. And I really dislike the surface of my range, it is a pain to keep clean, I miss the ease of my Thermador cooktop. And if I had it to do over again, I would have done drawers in the two base cabinets that don't have them. I still cannot believe how much more organized my kitchen is because of the drawer bases! I had a hard time wrapping my brain around how they would function for me, but after living with my kitchen for a year, I would do an all drawer kitchen in a heartbeat. Overall, I am so grateful to have a kitchen that is both functional and beautiful, and I so appreciate all the advice and encouragement I got from this forum!...See MoreGray Arabesques + Super White = ?
Comments (115)i think you can see from that photoshop that something dominatily white is the way to go, lets your chandy still be the eye candy in that room, and i still think a little sparkle fits your kitchen bee.....those hex might just fit the bill! i guess i was thinking of pips kitchen....her bs seems to have just a little sparkle to it, but if i remember correctly, she said its not that sparkly in person? you are on the right track, and like others have said, you have great taste. trust yourself!...See Morebilly_g
