find hardware that I really, really like and fits my budget?? We started our kitchen Dec. 1st and the only thing left to do is pick hardware! I have looked at literally hundreds online. Bought a sample of "palm lillie leaf" from one site - loved the style but the color wasn't what I thought it would be and it didn't work. Then bought ALL knobs and drawer pulls at Expo in another style and just wasn't sure about them so we took them back until I can make up my feeble mind!!! Here's a picture of what I had purchased at expo. I kept saying "I like them....but...."

Of course I did find some hardware that I LOVED that was $78 each! DH said I could get one and he would put magnets on it. Seriously, this is making me crazy. I just want it done.

I have never resolved the problem, but have found a way that works for a period of time. I got a large dog crate. It's big enough to hold a litter box, a large cushion for him to sleep on, and bowls of food and water. When he acts out against one of my cats, I put him in the crate for a time out. At first I just left him in it for half a day. That didn't really help. I found that it's most helpful to leave him in the crate for at least 24 hours, and at times for longer, depending on how bad his behavior was on that particular occasion. The crate is in my basement which is below grade, so it's always in the 60s there. The isolation is what seems to be the key to this working. When I crate him, I don't go down to the basement except once or twice to clean the litter box. And when I do that, I make sure he understands that I am very angry with him by speaking harshly to him and telling him how bad he is. When he's out and starts to act out, I yell CRATE at him so that he begins to understand what's coming if he doesn't stop the behavior. I have left him crated for as long as two days. But when he comes out of the crate, his behavior changes for, sometimes weeks at a time. And I constantly praise and pet him when he starts his aggressive behavior and when yelling CRATE immediately stops it. Good luck, this has been ongoing for 5 years now, but this method has drastically improved things.

My niece gave me silicone pans for Christmas one year - we got a loaf pan, a square cake pan and a round cake pan. I made brownies in the square cake pan. I didn't like the "movement" of the pan trying to transfer a pan full of batter to the oven, as has been mentioned already. It didn't stick any more than any other pan, but I guess out of stupidity on my part, I cut up the brownies - and cut huge slices right thru the pan!!! As I said it just didn't dawn on me - who "unmolds" brownies from a pan then cuts them? You cut them in the pan! After I did it I couldn't believe I was so stupid, but it truly didn't occur to me that the knife would cut thru the pan. I have some "cutting boards" that are made out of a similar material and I obviously cut on those, so I just didn't think. So that went in the trash and I haven't used any of the others since. I think I prefer glass or metal! Altho I did switch to a silicone pastry brush and I LOVE it. And I do have some silicone spatulas as well, but I think I like the rubber ones better - the silicone is kind of stiff and that's the point of a rubber spatula - that it bends and conforms to the dish/pan. I have been thinking about buying the silicone sheets to bake on - they're awful expensive tho, so I wasn't sure they were worth the expense. Lisa

Since I usually hunt things for a long time, I rarely have regrets. But sometimes I'm being impulsive. For example I'm saving for a bed for my daughter(she has where to sleep no worries..she just dreams about full size bed instead of twin). Yesterday they have all sorts of deals, in honor of Mother's day..I see some nightstands and I fall in love. We don't have matching nightstands in our master; we have other things (huge end table and bookshelf ladder lol) that work nicely and look fine, but it's been years that I wanted to get matching nightstands because I think our bedroom, as much as I love it, might use some relief:) So I buy these nightstands..sale and all, but it's not really cheap. And I know-it's not that I chose wrong, they are adorable, and in worst case if my husband hates them or I have an unexpected bill to pay-they're lightweight and the store is 20 min from us, and we can return it. But could I go without them for another year or two or three or..? Yeah I could. So sitting here full of remorse and guilt.. Also they were new. I know old nightstands that I really tend to love are more expensive than these. I even checked our CL once again, to make sure before making the purchase. But still. Who knows, maybe I'd eventually find a bargain. And now I still have to find this full size bed. I can't even tell myself I gave myself a Mother's Day gift..because I already got a HUGE orchid... Thank you for giving me this great opportunity to confess..because I didn't say a word to my unsuspecting husband yet..:)

Fresh garden Living on Etsy has it. I have purchases several roses from Karyn. They are small but very healthy. Own root and organically grown. Boy I know it's frustrating when you can't find the exact piece that you're searching for, it's exhausting. But don't compromise, with as pretty as those are, if they aren't "the one" that's ok there are so many different kinds of eye candy to choose from, you're certain to find it eventually. You're kitchen is so pretty as it is, is there really any rush? I'd step back, enjoy what's finished now and I bet you'll find the right ones when you least expect it...(it's just like with men :c)

No kidding! If I had known how hard this decision was going to be, I would have STARTED with the hardware! :-) Ours is a little easier in that it's an old house and the kitchen will have a *vintage* feel; there seems to be lots of choice out there. My challenge is price. I know the look I want, but I'm stuck when it comes to spending so much on just one piece (when we need many...)

But I agree with what's been said - I'm keeping the search going and think I will *know* when I see the right ones.

Actually I really like the ones you've picked. They pick up the color of the granite and the appliances and they echo the trim on the cabs.

That being said, if there's a rediculously priced knob, I know how to find it :Op I finally had all of mine installed, and have enough for a second kitchen in left overs (thank god I have a second kitchen...but adding these all up...I might need three or four more kitchens) I love knobs :oP

I would pick a silver tone knob/pull for a softer effect; anything with black will stand out too much, imo...

Igloochick - I'd love to see a picture of yours.

Organic nettie - our counters are madura gold but from an unusual batch that had lots of variation in color and depth. The fauctet, I couldn't tell you.....it was given to us by a friend who is an interior decorator and was changing hers out for an ORB one. I love hand-me-downs from her! ;-)

I like the pulls, but I don't think the copper color of the pull goes well with the rest of the kitchen. I see something in pewter or brushed nickel....

No! You are not the only one! I went for months, until we had replaced the tape opening our cabinets several times and my DH had just about had it with me before settling on the ones we have. Then, it took modifying them ourselves to have a "knob" we like! We liked the pulls, but the coordinating knob was big and ugly! So, I ordered a sample pull and sent my DH to the shop to cut it in half and buff off the end with smoothed corners and VOILA a knob! OR, half a pull with a single hole mount. But, anyway, HOLD OFF IF YOU AREN'T COMPLETELY HAPPY! The right ones will find a way to you!

Same could be said of our search for pendant lights, but they are finally here and ready to be installed!

Is this weird? I *started* my remodel with my pulls. I saw them in a magazine, knew I had to have them, and chose cabinets *around* the pulls.

I would really tape those pulls up in place and maybe post photos here before you get them...not sure whether they'll look spotty or not. The components seem to work, but can't be sure until one is actually up in context. Are those copper accent tiles in your backsplash?

And if you *really* can't find "the" ones, you can have the handle areas routed out instead...just have to keep on top of those as much as you do keep handles clean...

I ended up going to Home Depot and Lowes - purchasing one of every pull that I was remotely interested in. I made my selection, ordered them online from Lowes (it was easier). Once I had them - I was on GW and someone posted a link to another hardware website. I couldn't resist the urge to follow the link - where I found yet ANOTHER set of pulls I liked. You guessed it, I ordered them - and took the Lowes pulls back to Lowes! They were double the price of the Lowes pulls, but I am very happy with the ones I ultimately chose. I just wanted to chime in and let you know that you're not alone. I was crazy la la over our pulls too!

Here's a pic of the ones we went with. I don't have a pic of them by themselves.
