which counter top

Cabinets are almost in. We will have floating shelves on the wall with the wood. This is a vacation cabin so we want it to feel like a cabin. We are undecided on the counter. I have posted a picture of the Colonial Cream granite that we like or it would be a black granite. We are open to ideas of a quartz also. We do not have a picture yet of the whole slab of Colonial Cream only a sample piece. We are in a different state and doing this long distance. Which counter top do you like? We have to make a decision Monday. Thank you for all your help.

another picture and there will be different lights. The lights will be dark and the table will not be there

Won't do tile for countertops, it's just not me. I have formica now, it came with the house. It's held up remarkably well, but it stains. I tend to use those Clorox gel pens whenever I've got turmeric stains to clear up, and that works. Don't remember who, but someone made a suggestion of granite with a lot of movement in it, because it hides well. I think this is a great idea. I would love to look at some honed granite. I think the polished variety is simply going to look, well, too polished. I've also got my eye on a new Caeserstone called Dreamy Marfil. It's wonderfully creamly, and veiny likely marble, but obviously has the strength and durability of quartz. Any thoughts on this one? Also, can anyone tell me the difference between Caeserstone and Cambria? Are these simply different brands of quartz? Also, 'gramma', would love, love, love to do copper countertops, but have no clue how to do that for a reasonable cost. Copper costs a fortune. I'm trying to figure out how to get the sink for less than $3K.

Love the brick and the cabinets! So pretty. (And I'm glad you're not painting the cabs - I love the natural wood too.) If you're open to color, I think Costa Esmeralda granite is very pretty and could look gorgeous in your kitchen. I've seen some very pretty pale Crema Bordeaux and Typhoon Bordeaux (in pictures) as well, but some are dark. I think you'll want to visit stone yards and look at the slabs in person. If you have an extra brick tile to bring along that would help.

Why not something in a metal with some color the kitchen stools do not have to coordinate with the DR IMO. I do not think either of those works with what you have. The rattan does not even look comfortable and the other is too formal I think.I have no idea about what your kitchen looks like but I like some color for stools or the same metal stool with a wood seat maybe.

why not do a dramatic granite and a plain b/s?? you are not stuck to TM., there are so many awesome granites. i would not pair man-made counters with a real stone b/s. it never looks right. with your cabs and floor, you can really go in any direction. your not stuck to a brown and white kitchen. on my monitor, your floors seem to cast a peachy tone. sorry to say, i don't like any of your choices. not a fan of carrara, i like calcutta gold for marble. like the TM, but not with the b/s u have picked out. #3, a no-go with fake and real (counters and b/s). bring your floor & cab sample to the stone yard and go from there. if u have your paint picked out even better. pick your counters, then go for b/s. bring samples home and see them in your kitchen and lighting. as said above, its very difficult to pick everything from a small sample in a store.

I don't think I'd do Colonial Cream granite. It doesn't seem cabin-y. Maybe soapstone or a leathered Virginia Mist granite.

here is the backsplash. The backsplash does have texture. We were only going to put it on the wall with the stove. It is a slide in stove and appliances are stainless the sink is undermount Blanco Silgranite in the black.

thank you for your help. I will look at Virginia mist I really love soapstone but know we can not have it. I am afraid you are right about the Colonial Cream not being for a cabin and that I just like it because it is pretty.

I am afraid CC might be too busy with the pattern of the cabinets and also in the splash. Too much going on. Virginia mist is the ticket. You could do it honed, leathered etc. Good luck!

Given the light backsplash, definitely vote for a more solid dark counter like virginia mist!

If you cannot do soapstone, Virginia Mist is a good alternative.
