Advice on finding discontinued tile

Was hoping I might get some suggestions on finding a discontinued tile. I have called the manufacturer directly and numerous suppliers with no luck. Searched the web and many web sites appear to have it, but when I call they say they have no stock.

It is a backsplash tile, 1x2 glass. The manufacturere is Mirage Glass (now goes by Glazzio), the specifc tile is from the "crystile series" and the color is "arctic olive" SKU #CB30.

I only need 6 sheets of the tile (1 sq ft each). I am replacing an electric range with gas and need to remove the microwave/hood to replace with a full pro style hood. If I can't locate the tile I will need to put a unique tile behind the stove which is diffrent from the rest of the kitchen, or a stainless steel backsplash behind the stove. I would really prefer to have the clean look of the same backsplash as the rest of the kitchen.

For the curious, I am putting in a 30" Capital Culinarian with a Vent-A-Hood 30" hood.

Did you check ebay? They often have bits of things.

I like your thinking about seeking fixture colors that are paler versions of some of the truly period mid century colors. As the owner of a pink bathroom, I've polled people for years, and I think some retro colors are a little hard-core for most modern homebuyers...except for a brave sliver of the population who love them dearly. I wondered about pale gray fixtures, coupled with a pastel tile in one of the colors you described (perhaps tile accents/borders in a pale gray, to tie in the fixtures?) Are any nice fixtures available in soft grays? I read an article not too long ago about how popular gray was, as a wall paint color, in the 50's-60's. Maybe a creative (over the top?) approach with pastel colored tile would prevent you from having bathrooms that felt boring to you. It's no fun to spend lots of money and not be excited with the results, so I sympathize. No wonder you are frustrated.

That's a lot of tile to find stashed in someone's garage. Usually if people have extra for their own homes, they want to keep it in case of damage to existing installations. It would also be rare to have that much overage. I was able to find some matching tile once for renovations on a family member's house from a Seconds and Surplus store in my area. You might try places like that if you think the tile would have been a common one used by builders. You also might consider exchanging more than just the 50 square feet to a natural shift in room delineation and getting something that blends.

Had a water leak in master bath and repairman tore up a bunch of 20x20 (floor) and 13x13 (shower) tiles to dry out the subfloor and surround. Leak fixed, floors treated and dried but now can't find any replacement Daltile Alessi Crema tiles. Since the separate shower and tub and flooring all used Alessi Crema then putting in a different style/color won't work. Only other option (big yuck) is to remove and replace all tiles with something new. Called Daltile, local distributors, etc... no luck.

thanks, had already contacted that vendor. They don't have it any longer. I have resorted to going to every tile store I can and ask to have their old sample board. I need to find about 13 more sample boards to complete the repair.

Try searching for the name and the SKU - I'm seeing a few places.

Definitely contact World of Tile. I went there a few years ago when I needed a few pieces of discontinued tile and they were the only place that had what I needed.
