What granite goes well with these materials?

I just picked mine out. Like you,I was so confused. My husband and I went to a granite warehouse to see if we could pick one. I had my sample of floor, paint, fabric, cabinet, ect.... I set it all up little display... every time it looked so fantastic. Which one to choose.... Well then I found a fabricator who was there with a client and got her card. That was the smartest thing to do. She knew what was a good piece a granite was, she knew the cost of the granite. Long store short I got my granite for 250.00 more then what Uba Tuba would have cost at Home Depot and it is NOT in every kitchen. I have Lowes cabinets shaker style in cognac and Lapidus granite.

I suggest work with local granite counter fabricator, they will give you great options and also can set appointments to see complete slabs at the warehouse. It was wonderful. She looked for defects that I never would have known to look for, helped me visualize how to cut the granite to showcase the best parts. Good luck and remember that this was created by God.

I would suggest a very light color for the granite. I can't see the pictures, but from what you describe most everything else is a dark color.

We did a complete make over in our kitchen last fall and our kitchen designer told us that we needed to decide on what we wanted to be the focal point of our new kitchen. In our case it was the flooring (dark cherry like yours) and the dark counter top (in our case quartz). So we went with a very light cabinetry on the island and wall cabinets.

Also consider the colors in the rooms immediately adjacent to the kitchen. visually, the eye will gravitate to contrasts in colors whether in the foreground or background.

The offsetting color on the cabinets certainly made the dark flooring and counters 'pop'.

Our maple cabinets (upper and lower) around the L-shaped perimeter will have a light stain and look very close to natural maple. The island will be cherry (but pretty light for cherry, very close to natural cherry, kind of like a maple with a mocha stain). The maple cabinets that make up the L are going to be "anchored" on the ends with full height cabinets in cherry (same as island) that will be the pantry and the refrigerator.

I've read that matching the floor with the counter is a good way to go. If we do that, we'll have a counter on the island that blends a bit with the island but pops on the perimeter.

Below are pics of some of the granites we're thinking about. My favorite right now is the Vyara Gold.

Your picture of Vyra Gold looks a lot like my Madura Gold. Here's a photo of ours, if it helps. I have cherry cabinets and a hardwood/slate floor. Good luck!

I didn't see Crema Bordeaux on your list of granite possibilities...but you should definitely consider it. Goes great w/maple cabinets as well as others. You could probably search for photos of it.

Some of our colors are similar to yours (sink and perimeter cabinetry), and, after much difficulty choosing, we picked "Typhoon Bordeaux". I love this stone.

Nice choices! Unfortunately Crema Bordeaux is outside our budget; Bordeaux Delicato wasn't but it had too much pink for us. We didn't see Typhoon Bordeaux but it's similar in colors to one I really liked but had too much movement for DH--Juperana Exotica. We think Giallo Venezia will help highlight the sinks. We'll choose black hardware also. We needed to go with something neutral and not too dramatic because our kitchen is part of an open plan including the living and dining room.
