Match Miele handles for cabinets
Comments (2)you're trying to match the stems here it appears-[part that screws come into]..instead,aim for a similar curve/protrusion and the flatter metal treatment of the grip section [not rounded],if you want something close.Tons avail with a gentle curved return [look at Amerock-online] personally-don't think about the Miele piece-[it's neutral]-pick what you love on your cabs....See MoreAppliance Handles match Cabinet Handles?
Comments (3)Have you tried the 1/2 or full moustache cup pulls against your distressed island? They seem to mix well with many of the contemporary styles of appliance pulls. Can you post a photo of what you do like on your perimeter? I'm mixing 3 different types of hardware as I want a bit of furniture look and none of them match the appliance handles, but they all have the similar brushed finish in common with the appliance handles....See MorePaint kitchen cabinet hinges?
Comments (8)It could work, however I believe for a serious job the hardware would have to be removed from the cabinet, then replaced when you're finished. That could require slightly longer screws. DIY people who spray paint small metal parts for cars like to bake them off, that is heat them up to harden the paint. This seems to make the items very tough, even with the off the shelf spray paint. Some guys have tried to sneak newly painted parts into home ovens while the wife is not looking (not recommended/toxic). Some have used toaster ovens acquired for just this purpose. Ovens are run in the garage or outdoors. The bake temperatures in ovens seemed to range from 150 - 200 and the bake time was 15-30 minutes. Others have simply set up a cardboard box with a lightbulb inside and left the parts in over night. I agree that if you can find and replace is your safest way to go....See MoreNeed advice on old cabinet hinges (rusting and peeling paint)
Comments (23)Yeah Sophie loves to tell people how cheap they are on here, apparently. Anyway, I DO have a dremel, so I will try that. The cabinets will not be getting stripped, however, because I do not have the time for that. This house is getting sold in a few months, so it's not a labor of love at this point. I just stripped a dresser and, though I enjoy that kind of work, I do have a day job that keeps me pretty busy, so when I hire a licensed contractor to re-do my bathroom, I'm just going with what they are doing. If I was going to stay here and make it look perfect, I would strip the cabinets. At this point, I just need a functional, nice looking bathroom and I, personally, have no issue with the cabinets being painted numerous times. I will, however, be sanding down the gloppy parts and getting the painter to fix those. Pennydesign, thanks for all of your advice and help! You have been wonderful!...See MoreWindow Accents by Vanessa Downs
