problematic granite installation (long story)

Well, my elation at seeing my new granite installed has faded fast:(. Much of this is my fault - when the installers arrived with the already cut pieces, I did not measure them. We had prior difficulty with them - when they came to template, they said they couldn't use our exact drawing - measurements were off, overhang would not be right, etc., etc. We then went to the shop, looked at the template on the granite, went home, and called them before fabrication took place to let them know we did not want them to cut the slabs as templated. We sent them a new drawing, with measurements, to address their concern over the original drawing, and asked that they come and re-template. Although they expressed concern over our drawing, they ultimately declined to come and remeasure, saying, they "got it". As I said, at a glance, the slab in question, upper part of island looked to be the right shape, and I did not actually measure it.
