Hi Folks I know it was literally years ago but I just wanted to chime in and say what a great discussion thread this is/was. So many claims are made by sellers and "makers" - for what it's worth, I am going the opposite direction with my project for our own home. I am building new doors that will look like 1930's commercial chiller units, with big hinges and handles as well as adding several personal touches to the whole lot, like refashioned Chrysler wings emblems etc . The two fridges I am using are a liebherr wine/freezer unit and a Jenn Air Alaska model - see attached link and click on AA kitchen project .... might cause some heart palpitations for some, but perhaps a smile for others. BTW In one of my designs I overcame the issues around the toe kick by replacing the floor under the fridge with an insect proof perforated metal grill ... still strong enough to take the fridge and enabled cool air to vent up from the underfloor. mags, yes dw does the install. They do the panels for appliances too. I have a "thing" about faux drawers and doors. Jason at DW totally understood my issue. If you look at the sets of drawers on each side of the sink by the window, you will see 3 drawer fronts on each side. The top two on each side are dish drawers, I wanted them to completely blend in with the other drawers and not look like one big drawer. Some integrated fronts are only one panel from some companies, but having them made custom you can ask them to do this. DW's glass fronts are not upcharges. If you want anything but clear glass, ie Antique German, or wavy, etc., then yes, there is an upcharge. But mine cost the same as having wood fronts. Thanks for the compliments. cpartist - thank you. I'm sad. Waaaa! :( I've already been having to say "it will look good enough" 3x now. Once, because the sink can't stick out due to the wall faucet not reaching far enough, and twice because my contractor misjudged when measuring the dishwasher/ordering the door (he thought the dishwasher was shorter so the door was ordered too tall and he had to make the upper facing skinnier in that spot accommodate it, sigh...) and the third time, the faucet wasn't level. I asked my contractor to see that it became level so he did minor tweaking until it became more level but now it's gone back a bit so is back to being not so level - and I've given up on it. Now I have to have this overly-busy looking wall of cabinets...and yet I can't have concealed hinges because they take up too much space inside the cabs when you have two doors and 4 huge hinges (concealed hinges aren't small inside the cab). So the lack of concealed hinges is really a 4th disappointment. Oh yes and a very old light switch can't be moved to be symmetrical with the others, and the one on the opposite wall I won't be consistent either. This is starting to feel like a circus! At least I called the electrician and asked him to redo the off-center hole he made for my future pendant light. There was a beam in the way so he made it off-center, instead of just installing a pancake box. Kill me now. I wonder if I'll get charged? fori - thanks for the positive juju. As I was saying in the paragraph above this one, the panel for the dishwasher has been ordered and it's just a one-panel shaker style door w/ a Another reason I think they'd look better w/ one door is because the wall you see when you come in from the dining room is filled w/ wall to wall cabinets and they have big wide doors on them: The cost of new doors would be a couple hundred plus painting (which I could do myself). As for the dishwasher door being made to look like double doors, I'm not so into the fake cabinet look (as I know so many are) cause the whole idea of not being able to open the doors kinda bugs me - "Oh...so I guess it's NOT a cupboard then...umm...okay...you tricked me..." Lol!

"...this thread is 3 years old..." "And your point is what?" The point is that we don't resurrect old threads unless it's an update to the originating post. When a thread is this old, it's doubtful the originator will be back since most people disappear after completing their Kitchen. A few will come back, but it's by far the exception rather than the rule. Just resurrecting to say an old thread is "useful" forces threads off the first page that need help TODAY/NOW, not years ago. If you find the thread useful, great! Read it and move on. Others will find it as well just like you did without it being bumped up to the first page. In all honestly, most of us have started to ignore bumped up threads, in part b/c we've had a lot of Houzz Pros bump old threads with replies of marginal (if any) value just so they can draw attention to themselves. We've also noticed non-pros posting similarly -- so we ignore them. (I opened this one accidentally - I didn't check the start date first or I would have ignored it as well.) If you have a question that's not answered by this or any other thread, then it's really best to start your own thread with an informational Subject/Title. You will not only get more replies, but replies relevant to your question.
