can you use a stainless steel pot?
Comments (7)You mean no aluminum? I won't get into the long heated debate over never use aluminum pans for anything because of all the dangers supposedly related to them. That debate isn't relevant to this forum. But when it comes to canning, NCHFP explains it in part in the FAQs there saying something to the effect that acidic foods interact with aluminum and can lead to off-colors and flavors as the acids cause them to pit and that releases more of the metals into the foods. Google will give you lots more info about it including lists of foods that shouldn't be used with reactive cookware: pickles, highly salted foods, tomatoes, acidic fruits, rhubarb, sauerkraut and other fermented foods. Comments (2)Sure, but Why? The whole idea of grilling is easy clean up. Just burn them off prior to the next use, and give them a quick brush with a brass grill brush. If you have cast iron grates I have found it useful to keep them coated with cooking oil just like you would season a cast iron skillet...even some of the cheaper grills stainless is prone to corrosion, and can benefit from a coating of cooking oil....See MoreWhich Stainless Steel Sink did you purchase?
Comments (19)I have a Franke Orca. Love, love, love it. I bought it especially for its ledge that allows me to have a drain grid on the right-hand side. I always keep it there to dry hand-washed items and slightly damp plastics from my dishwasher. I can soak large items flat even with the right-hand grid in place. If I ever need to wash anything walrus-sized, easy enough to remove the grid....See MoreBottom sink grids for Stainless Steel sinks - do you have one?
Comments (4)I don't have a ss sink-mine's silgranit. However, I now believe that no matter what material your sink is made of, you can't go wrong with a sink grid!!! Not only does it protect the bottom of your sink but it looks nice too. It's easy to keep clean-I just wipe it down every night when I wipe down my sink. Or I just fill the sink up with a few inches of soapy water and use a little brush to clean in between the squares like ccoombs 1 said....See Moreccoombs1
