Can you show me your honed marble around a cooktop ?
Comments (11)I was in a 10-year-old kitchen last weekend with Carrara countertops. Around the cooktop the counters were not stained, but there were (to me) very noticeable etches throughout the kitchen, visible in both natural and artificial light. I knew what the etches were, but I thought they made the counter look dirty. If you saw those kinds of marks on Formica you would think the kitchen or bathroom needed a good cleaning. There were a lot of etches around the range from tomato sauce and other acidic splatters and drips, and they were especially visible in the light of the cooktop hood. Marble owners on this forum love their gorgeous counters, but I think they downplay the etching issue, saying that etches are only visible if you really look for them. I also think etching is tough to capture in a photo. I would try to see an older marble kitchen before you commit, to make sure it is right for you....See MorePlease show me your drawers (under your cooktop)
Comments (27)Not under a cooktop but the same idea- middle drawer of a 30" frameless cabinet. These are not adjustable, (mine and predate when I could do that easily) Spacing is 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 clear between and dividers are 4-1/4" (4-1/2" max) high to allow lids and (11") fry pans to tilt enough to clear and saucepans to sit front to back. It also allows much easier access than full height dividers. Drawer box sides should be full height if at all possible. Larger fry pans, square sided sauteuse, woks, etc. get stored elsewhere. Usually with tray dividers in base cabinet though the first two can work in the top drawer of a frameless caibnet. (I hate stacking) Nowadays I spec adjustable in most brands, the one brand that I can't do that with we put them in with pocket hole screws and fit them to the clients actual stuff....See MoreI'll show you mine/you show me yours - W 2/26
Comments (38)I camped on Catalina also, but I don't remember any wild boars - I was not aware that they lived there. I did see buffalo on a bus tour of the island, but our campsite was walking distance from Avalon, just down the hill from the botanical gardens, and so it might have been more civilized than where you camped. When we lived in Venice, we could ride our mountain bikes from our house on the bike routes to a ferry dock in Marina Del Rey to catch a seasonal ferry to Catalina and then have our bikes on the island while we were there, which we liked, but we never took a bike tour of the entire island, as the mountains were way too steep....See MoreI'll show you mine/you show me yours - W 1/11/23
Comments (51)@barncatz.....I got yelled at for using orange peel sprayed-on texture instead of skip-trowel on a basement I'd volunteered to finish....free of charge. What YOU used is called skip-trowel. The lady said she hated orange peel texture and she'd had it ALL removed & skip trowel put in. To this day she hates me...over my choice of wall texture. :0)...See Moresjhockeyfan325
