granite counter-top seams ... are we being too picky?
Comments (44)These are my pics of my countertops placed Friday June 22, 2018. I cried looking at these seams. It looks so cheap. Fabricator explains that's the way it comes. I explained that I shouldn't be able to see the seams so clearly. It looks so unprofessional. They ended up taking them back to their warehouse. In hopes they say if it is quality control will try and fix it just to make it look better. Otherwise I will have to pay an additional fee for them to come out again to install. I just don't know what to do and if still looks the same. This is the first time I've replaced my counters in 24 years. I don't and can't live with it. looking at this for another 24 years. It looks so cheap and it really was not it's a lot of money to me. I hope fingers crossed that they will fix this problem. They never told me that there would be such seams. I thought the edges were done by a machine and it would be all one piece. I have read up on this and now understand there are seams. But now I do know that they should not look like this. If they are good fabricator you shouldn't be able to see them so clearly. I will find out next week what happens....See MoreSink color/style with white cabs/light counters - opinions please
Comments (9)Marg CS is really easy to clean so that part is great. Two things I don't like as much 1) there is a translucent inclusion on the front edge of the sink (and elsewhere) that looks like a chip. Freaked me out several times until I stopped noticing. 2) I don't like having to use trivets for hot plates b/c I never had to think about it before with any other counter I've had. If you don't already know hot and CS don't mix-- that's what CS says anyway and I certainly haven't tried to invalidate their advice in my kitchen. Yes we had to coordinate the sink, counters and backsplash and the grout and paint color for that matter. Floor stain came later but wood floors and SS are kinda like a pair of jeans-- seem to work well with lots of other elements. As was suggested, you should order samples from Blanco website. We tried lots of combinations of sink/tile/counters in many different lighting conditions to get the right match....See MoreHow to pick a counter top. Opinions please!
Comments (22)kelleg69, I really like that quartz! I just looked it up and of course the nearest distributor is 3 hours away in Dallas (same as the Quartzmasters). I guess I'm going to just have to make another trip. I don't know if the Chinese produced quartz uses the Breton technology everyone seems to talk about on this website. So I don't know what happens if they don't. Here is the link to the pendants, I ordered them a few weeks ago when they were 30% off and free shipping! http://www.horchow.com/Regina-Andrew-Design-Camden-Five-Light-Lantern-Pendants/cprod105150007_cat23930743__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.jsp%253FitemId%253Dcat23930743%2526pageSize%253D120%2526No%253D0%2526refinements%253D&eItemId=cprod105150007&cmCat=product...See MoreNeed advice on what edge to use on 2" thick kitchen countertop
Comments (15)Did you actually purchase the slab already? If not I would try to get a piece of it and bring it home and put all kinds of things on it (ketchup, mustard, and anything else that will make a mess) and see what happens to it. It is better to experiment on a little piece than find out the hard way on your countertop. I think that the edge that you like is the one called ogee that doesn't have the bull nose. I think edging is mainly decorative/ cost driven. But it would be worth it to research it a little bit on this site and see if other people think that way too or if there is something that you need to be thinking about that you haven't thought of yet....See Moreigloochic
