What kind of pull for this microwave cabinet

We have a "flipper" door on our new microwave cabinet.

Since, when flipped up, it goes almost all the way back into the cab, I am puzzling over what kind of a pull will work.

The blue tape is a temporary solution.

I started googling images of "finger pulls" and came across this. Would it work? Don't know if you care for it stylistically or not -- though you might be hard pressed to find anything else that fits.

The door is inset, yes?

I'm using a very classic looking polished nickel pull on my cabinets and the one drawer in my bathroom. I'm thinking of using knobs on the upper cabinet rather than pulls, just to have something a little different (the upper cabinets literally are right on top of the drawer, this is a linen closet), but not certain yet. I need to look at pictures. I'm worried that people will get their clothing "hooked" on the vertical pull, but then, you can get hooked on a knob too. Perhaps I'll have another quarter inch put on the granite countertop so that we don't lean towards the cabinets quite as much. I'm going for a more traditional look, my feeling is that "no hardware" is more contemporary looking. I bought my pulls at Lowes. They are lovely, so bright and shiny.

I'm facing the same dilemma. I have a 35" wide oddball space to fit a cabinet and squeeze in a microwave. I'm doing a 27" wide cabinet, counter will be at desk height, one drawer, open below. 29 3/4" above the counter will be a cabinet with 1 adjustable shelf, and glass front doors. Under that cabinet will hang a micro, on a bracket. Not built in, no trim kit. I'm buying the GE Spacemaker micro. DH did not want a microwave drawer. Basically - it can be built into a cabinet, be built in with a trim kit (requiring more space), hang on a bracket, or set on a countertop! good luck!

What do you think about mixing two different size cabinet pulls?

We used 8" handles on the majority of our cabs and drawers--some doors/drawers are larger and some smaller. However, the 12" wide drawer next to the range got a 5" handle, as the 8" would have been a bit much IMHO. We also used three 12" handles in our kitchen; on the wide lift-up door above our fridge, on the DW, and on trash can cab. The best way to tell how you'll like the look of a particular size is to hold samples in the different sizes next to the doors and drawers. That's how we ended up with the sizes we ended up choosing.

We have an oven/microwave combo (KitchenAid). If I could redo my kitchen I might do that part differently. I did not know when I designed my kitchen last year that microwave drawers were a thing. If I had known I might have chosen that with a built in oven instead. I do not dislike our oven/microwave however I do have concerns about the microwave breaking. The fan was actually broken when we installed it, and we had to get it repaired. So if something happens to it, I know we will have to pull the entire unit out to get it fixed which is more of a pain than just fixing a microwave. The other issue I have with it is that microwave is a little higher than I would like. We installed the unit 1.5" higher than they recommend (so I could have a 15" drawer below) and since I'm only 5'3" the microwave is a little bit high for me. Even installing it at suggested height would still leave it higher than the ideal. A drawer would be a nicer height most likely. I definitely like having a separate gas rangetop and built in oven. There are many reasons I want them separate, so a range was never an option for me. But I probably won't combine the oven and microwave again if I did another kitchen.

I favorited that Berenson pull link. That is a great price for something like that and it comes in multiple finishes.

What do the other pulls/knobs look like?

I suspect your best choice will be something like the Berenson.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, that door is inset. The rest of the pulls are satin nickel finish squared-off style. I am thinking that we may have to "notch" the cabinet to make room for the Berenson Bravo style pull.

prospect -- I was out looking at hardware today and saw this one IRL. It is quite comfortable feeling and thin. It comes in matte black as well as satin nickel (and more?).

Does your flipper door automatically retract into the cabinet all the way (all but about 1/4") when you open it? Or will it stop at any point?

If you mount this close to the bottom of your door face and if your door doens't automatically pull up and into the micro space, you might be able to make this option work too.

editionk, thank you but I cannot visualize how this pull attaches to the cabinet. My flipper door does not automatically retract ito the cabinet all the way. But it stops with only about 1/4 inch out. Hope that makes sense.

I took some pics at the store that might show the pull better than the image I linked above; I can post those tomorrow.

I was thinking it would look best to mount this particular pull centered in the bottom 'border' of the cabinet face. That looks to be about 1.5" so the pull would be about 3/4" up meaning the knob would hit against the top frame of the cabinet when the door lifts up marking up the wood - UNLESS - you are always careful to stop the door.

Anyway, I'll upload some more pics tomorrow. The pull is about 1" wide left to right, maybe 1/4" tall and projects out 3/4". Does that help visualize it more?

I know prospect already has hardware, but I saw this picture today and was reminded of her beautiful kitchen and remembered her pull predicament. I love how these pulls blend in and let the cabinet doors/wood be the beauty. So, FWIW...
