Double oven range vs. single oven range & convection microwave
Comments (5)This is very interesting as I was thinking of a single wall oven plus a convection microwave as a second oven. We have a regular microwave as well. I really want the second oven for pies, keeping things warm etc but don't need 2 full size ovens as in a double wall oven. Consumer reports didn't seem to think much of the convection microwaves so that put me off. The microwave ovens would be on opposite sides of the kitchen which has some advantage. Any comments?...See MoreIs my kitchen too small for a wall oven/microwave combo?
Comments (19)I think your kitchen would look very crowded with an oven and microwave stack. The kitchen is small and the appliances are pretty big already. All the pictures you posted as of very big kitchens. If this were my kitchen, (I have a preference for wall ovens and microwaves), I would replace the OTR with a venthood and remove the cabinet on top of it. I would replace the two cabinets doors on either side of the range with glass door. You can use the existing door and add some glass or replace the doors completely. Replace the hardware on the cabinets You have a really good amount of counter top and I think some minimal changes will make the kitchen looks really fresh. I would get a range in this situation. Good luck!...See MoreHow do u integrate a microwave and a wall oven into an oven cabinet?
Comments (3)If you must have a wall oven (see your other thread), then put in a wall oven at a comfortable height and then have an alcove built above it. The interior of the alcove will have to be finished to match the outside - so be sure to specify that when you order cabinets. In addition, you will need to put an outlet in the alcove to fit the MW - it may have to be on a dedicated circuit, check with your GC and/or electrician. Now, just buy a countertop MW that fits inside the alcove with enough room to open the door fully and provide the required clearance around the MW....See MoreHelp: Replacing double oven with oven microwave combo
Comments (10)My daughter did what you are planning on doing. I’m not sure her gap was exactly the same size and her ovens were only 24” wide. Since she did not want to remodel her whole kitchen, she stuck with 24” wide replacements. She put the oven on the bottom and used a speed oven/microwave on top. Like hers your microwave will need a shelf to support it. She had a carpenter put in a shelf and a filler piece between the lower oven and the upper. She also needed an electrician to put in an outlet for the microwave/speed oven. Her over the cooktop microwave was replaced with a vent hood Good luck with your project....See MoreZee
