Best place to buy cabinets online?
Comments (0)I am looking for cabinets or cabinet doors for my Kitchen. Where would be the best place to purchase cabinets online?...See MoreWould you buy your cabinets online?
Comments (22)I'm a little late, but I thought I'd respond since I'm actually looking into this right now. We will probably only be in our home another two years, so our main concern with our cosmetic updates is resale. We want something that looks nice but is affordable. It doesn't need to be over-the-top custom, but there are definitely certain things I want while we're still living there and it should be a "wow" factor of the house. I came across an old post from this forum which led me to the MKFUSA website mentioned in an above post. I spent all weekend coming up with a design I think will really work for us, but unless I want to spend $100, MKFUSA won't look at my design and give me input. The $100 is refundable of course if I buy cabinets from them, but at this point I'm so confused on the pricing that I have no idea what they would cost or if it's worth it to send in my design. The bottom line for me? Yes, I think there are plenty of people out there in my position who would buy online IF: -Great color photos (in the form of downloadable/printable PDFs) were available to show door styles, paint/stain colors, specs, and showroom kitchen examples -The pricing, including shipping, was straightforward and easy to understand -Contact information was readily available for questions/concerns -Some type of design consultation/review, even at a charge so you're not constantly wasting your time, so that once my order is placed, I can feel confident I've ordered all the pieces I need -Door samples could be ordered and then shipped back, free of charge, for a refund of whatever you charged to send them (in other words, price should include shipping so everybody wins-- obviously you would need to limit how many could be sent at a time and work out other kinks...) -Ideally-- and this is something you might not do right away but could consider adding down the line-- there would be some type of simplified kitchen design sofware on the website where people could set up a room of their size, and then basically drag and drop windows, outlets, cabinets, etc... to get a 3-d view of what their design might look like. I'm decent at doing scale drawings of mine, but I have to assume I'm doing it right. Software that shows what we're drawing right from your site would be ideal! It's like you said-- times are tight right now, and I feel a little crazy for even spending money on a remodel right now, but we have the cash and are ready to go. In fact, I'm not sure if our budget would fit with your cabinets, but if you want a "guinea pig," just let me know! Good luck with your business!...See MoreAnyone use The Cabinet Joint- RTA online co. ?
Comments (16)Highly recommend Rick at Cabinet Authority. Patient and professional and stands behind any mistakes and issues (not many). Conestoga is top quality and our kitchen (95%) complete is looking great due to the conestoga cabinet quality. Would have done just a few things differently but actually surprised how good it turned out. Would I do it again? Uhhh no..it was a lot of work and detail but then again I did everything from the demo, to the cabinet assembly, installation, plumbing, electrical, venting, lighting, gas line, etc. Was much more work and time than expected. Lots of measuring, removing, measuring again, lots of hand tweaking to get right and level in the install. Everything has to go in a particular order. Just note, if you are having an installer put in cabinets correctly and you have a lot of panels, special configs that you want just right, you will need to find a patient installer who has a great attention to detail. Having an installer say they will come in and "knock it out in 1 day" is asking for trouble and a bad job. There is no way to install, shim, scribe, level, tweak, install, attach doors, tweak hinges, attach dishwasher, etc ,etc, etc, in a day or two unless you have a super simple setup and 10 installers at once (then you are asking for a hack job). Can be done but know what you are getting into. Takes many special tools and patience to measure and double check everything as you go. Assembly was fairly easy although you have to know a couple tips to save frustration (i.e. - install inset hinges before assembling cabs). Installation was much more work to get everything level and exact (frames tight and perfect). I had a pretty complicated island that I designed with many panels that had to go together just right. Also, had to design and fabricate a range hood because we didn't like the stock ones. While I highly recommend Conestoga for their quality and price, it is a lot of work if you are doing it yourself. Recommend an installer and subs for plumbing, electrical, etc. Our kitchen looks really good and we saved a TON of money. There is no way to get a kitchen of this quality for this price so while we have high end semi custom cabinets now - it took a lot of sweat to get them - not sure if the tradeoff is worth it but we had a fixed budget and wanted quality....See MoreRTA cabinets, J&K or Cabinet Joint?
Comments (24)I know this thread is old, but for those that find it looking for direction, I'll give my experiences. I did Conestoga for my own remodel. It was an extensive and very very customized order. $22k, from Home Depot it was $32k. Lowes wouldn't even quote it, the plan was so custom. Every cabinet was individually designed to look like a piece of furniture with legs. I have no run of cabinets anywhere, each section is separate with finished sides. I couldn't have been happier with the value, quality, look, and cost. I LOVE my kitchen. The finish on these are impeccable, smooth as silk and the maple stained and glaze is absolutely beautiful. A couple years later I remodeled my daughter's kitchen and used them again. We ordered cherry wood and I regret it. The look was good, but the wood was not quality and I had 2 pieces snap in half during install. Also, several issues with the ordering process. If you go Conestoga with lots of customizing, be prepared to spend quite a bit of time making sure the order is correct. Recently I did a rental house with RTA cabs from a place I found online. I didn't expect much for $2500, but was impressed! They were nicely done and while not very customized, the quality was on par with Conestoga! I think it was rtaonline.com...See Morecaseykees
