My RTA cabinet nightmare.
Comments (14)Hmmm RTA cabinets from a company recommended by some guy named Gary who writes articles about them. The poster doesn't specifically state where he got his cabinets, but it sounds quite a bit like the same company (and the same Gary) dicussed in this other Garden Web message. anyone know refutable RTA cabinet company? The main difference seems to be that rather than claiming that the cabinet material would be 3/4" thick and shipping material that was 1/2" thick, now the company seems to be claiming that the material will be 1/2" thick and are shipping material that is 3/8" thick. Also from info presented in the other posting it appears that the "Gary" that is writing articles recommending that RTA Cabinet store, also happens to own or run the store, or at least work for them....See MoreLooking for a good RTA Cabinet please help
Comments (4)Talk about advertisment BS those are J & K grand cabinets which are designed by the chinese manfacturer to be nailed together from the outside of the box. That means you are supposed to put nails thru the 1/2" plywood box on the outside where you will see them. The drawer boxes are not marked at all so you know where to install the rails so they pull out perpendicular to the floor. It is cabinet companies and stupid adds like this that give companies like IKS and JSI a bad name which are by the way easier to put together then the cabinets this idiot is trying to sell. You need a staple gun a lot of glue and some expierence to work with the cabinets this post is trying to promote. This brand has multiple warehouses around the country all competeing with each other to sell their cabinets as the company is made up of competeing investors. The door styles look nice but the cabinet construction leaves something to be desired. JSI and IKS for those who read this are much more business like are easier to deal with. J&K has no up to date literature. IKS literature is not anything to brag about either for that matter. JSI has goood literature on their products. Unfortunately you must own a kitchen and bath store to buy directly from either JSI or IKS. J & K will on the other hand sell to anyone. I have been to their location in the Miami area. There is another location in Georgia for those of you on the east coast which is better to deal with. Each warehouse has its own website. The largest warehouse is in California....See MoreWhere to buy RTA cabinets online?
Comments (28)I used Scherr's. It's been two years. I'm still delighted. I want to do another kitchen. That's kind of sick, I know. I did want to comment about the assembly process. Each manufacturer uses a different assembly technique. While I can only speak to the Scherr's process, I have to say it is one stout cabinet. They don't use clips as illustrated above. I think they are much more solid that some of the standard custom cabinets I have used in the past. The bottom line is each company stands on their own merits. I like Scherr's because of the quality of the product, they are manufactured in North Dakota and the outstanding customer service. If you have a problem, you get a real person to help solve it. I have read numerous posts that indicated Barker's produces a good product. Their customer service is involves a lot of email. I like the telephone method myself. Conestoga is another domestic manufacturer of RTA frameless cabinets. With these companies, you can be assured the materials meet acceptable health standards, too....See MoreCarolina Heartwood Cabinetry or their RTA Discount Kitchen Direct
Comments (0)Hello, Does anyone have any experience with Carolina Heartwood Cabinetry kitchen cabinets (also called Web Don). I'm out of their geographical zone (live in PA) so was told by their rep that I could get their kitchen cabinets ready to be assembled (RTA) through a company called Discount Kitchen Direct. Any experience with either of these companies. Thanks....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
