PIC: Medallion cream cabinets were delivered! Love them!!
Comments (18)Hi emy- I originally wanted inset and my quoted pricing was for inset doors. I got pricing for both Group A and Group B in Shiloh. Also inset in Dynasty, Bertch, etc. I ended up doing full overlay because it was a little cheaper, and ultimately because I was worried about "banging" up the edges since I am a very clumsy accident prone person and tend to bang my dishes around when I put them away. I also have a little one that I thought would abuse them. Love love love the look though. I will definitely give you the full report once they are installed. One thing I unfortunately cannot report on is the sliding shelves...I didn't order any. I ordered two 36" base drawer cabs, two 24" base drawer cabs, a 21" sliding double trash cab, corner recyle bin base cab, blind corner base cab, 36" farmhouse sink base, and a 12" tray divider. This excludes all island cabinetry (which is not Medallion). This may be premature, but I am so in love with my kitchen cabs that I ordered the same door style and color for my Master Bath vanity and countertop cabinet! My mom has Medallion too, in 3 different properties they own. No complaints on her end. This is how I became familiar with the Oyster Heirloom. She had it installed in a home they own, which we are living in while we build our new house. Shiloh is also a very nice line. Furniture quality stuff. You cannot go wrong with either company, IMHO. I will definitely post pics and details once my cabinets are installed....See MoreGetting rid of file cabinet, where or how do I store small files?
Comments (18)DD50: That sounds ideal, but we don't have a Home Goods store in the small ocean side town that I live in. Unfortunately we have already lost 4 businesses in this small town, and a furniture store bearing a sign, asking for a bail-out, believe it or not! We DO have an antique store that is closing and right now it is 40% off. The woman wants out, and I did find two pieces of furniture that would work for my situation, but her prices are still too high. I will check again with her in a week to see if I can get her to drop lower. I have tried Freecycle and Craigslist and am active with both, and the file cabinet is a bit rusty that I don't think anyone would want it. Lena: You are most certainly correct. My words exactly!! We are headed for Depression. Closet space is ample, 'busy' but not crowded, but not an option for the file cabinet as I already have a small chest in there holding extra linens, one box of photo albums, etc....See MoreMedallion/Schuler painted cabinets
Comments (17)Marcy, I also went back and forth whether to get stained or painted cabinets. DH wanted stained, I wanted painted. I got Medallion Brookville Divinity color cabinets in my new kitchen a year ago. I am very happy with the Divinity painted finished. I almost got the glazing, but I didn't. Although I really liked the glazing, along with the other "extra" finishes that Medallion offers, I was afraid that they would looked outdated too soon. JMHO I've attached some photos of my kitchen if you're interested. The appliances are bisque and I think they look really nice with the Divinity color. In the future, when my appliances go "bust", I'll replace them with ss. Good luck in whatever you choose! Comments (7)I have the shrock (trademark) cabinets with the maple chocolate slab doors. I have only had them installed for about 4 months but I haven't had any issues yet. They installed perfectly with no damage to be seen. The finish is excellent and they are very solid (plywood construction) Drawer glides are soft closing and work very well. The only issue I had was the toe kick drawers I had installed are a little harder to glide. Stiff feeling. Not a huge issue though and they are loosening up over time and use. We are a family of four (6 year old and 16 year old) avid cooks and make almost all of our meals from scratch. I have had friends with kids over several times to make cookies and such and the cabinets still look as good as they were first put in. Shocking considering when our youngest ones get together it is complete mayhem. I would purchase these cabinets all over again though in retrospect I would not get a four drawer base just for size issues Wishing I would have gone with the three drawer. But if that is all I have to complain about then I will consider myself lucky. We will see how they hold up over the years though....See Morepiscesgirl
