Medallion Cabinet Disaster
Comments (3)I would say that the bulk of your issues are Menard's fault and the 'sales clerk' they hired. They failed to educate you on Medallion's specifications and they botched the order. Their QS Oak has some regular cut oak...it's in the spec book. It's also red oak. I prefer QS White oak....so I refer my clients to Showplace Cabinets. They have great looking QS Oak cabinets with no mix of regular cut (I am pretty sure on that)...maybe except for some moldings. I think that the cabinet manufacturers should wake up to the home centers. The people running these departments, usually have no business working there. They are NOT qualified! If they do offer cabinets to a home center...simplify it for these people, whom rarely have more than 3-5 yrs of experience. Don't do a full line offering. I have been selling/designing with Medallion for over 10 years. I rarely have an issue with their customer service....See MoreMadallion versus KraftMaid?
Comments (9)With either, you can't modify the hood sizes. I'm fairly certain of that. It's true, Medallion is more customizable. Medallion could cost 5-15% more depending on which door styles you select, the finish and the amount of modifications. I sell both lines and if I had to choose one over the other for my own home, I would prefer Medallion. I like that they have matching door style end panels (not just non-functioning doors screwed to the end). I also think their finish is better. Their glaze finishes have a beautiful matte finish to them....See MoreRelative cabinetry prices: brand vs. brand: take 2
Comments (23)Mrsjoe, Yes, Conestoga's are far better than Kraftsmaid in quality (although Kraftsmaid is nice). I'm not sure about Shenandoah as I have never seen them. I think quality wise (not price) they fall somewhere between Medallion/Schuler's plywood/wood option and maybe Shiloh or a bit further down the list. My estimate for Medallion in non wood "mdf" boxes came in at $14,000 or just under (forget) and my Conestoga's "all wood" rta's were around $8,000 with shipping. My bill was actually $8,320 I think but I ordered some back-up stain, glaze, paint, varnish and top coat just in case we screwed anything up. The finishes are real nice and I do love the catalyzed varnished interiors and the thick solid wood varnished shelves. I paid and extra $10 for 3/4 inch thick bottoms in my larger drawer bank. It was probably over kill but these babies are solid....See MoreSchuler versus Diamond/Schrock cabinets?
Comments (3)Hi, I have Schuler all plywood cabinets from Lowe's in my kitchen. They are very well made and the stains and painted finishes are very high quality, more like a custom cabinet. Definitely a step above Diamond and Kraftmaid. They will customize any cabinet for you, which I took advantage of for a few of my cabinets. I had a couple of minor issues with my cabinets after they arrived and the Schuler rep responded quickly and sent out whatever replacements I needed. Even my contractor was impressed by the quality and how they were packaged for shipment. Schuler is also the same as the Medallion brand. I am very happy with my cabinets. But, that being said, Kraftmaid and Diamond are still very good semi-custom cabinets, so I guess it could come down to price. If they are pricing out the same, I would go with Schuler....See MoreHuntingflower
