More inset cabinets ?s and is it ok to combine with full overlay

I keep going back in forth between inset and full overlay, so would like to ask owners of inset cabs to help me understand a bit more:

1. With this specific cabinet line (Elm) there is no upcharge for inset but the uppers are regular depth (12") except for one which would be 15" deep. There is an upcharge to upgrade to 13" uppers. My large dinner plates are about 10.5" and just fit. Would I be ok without upgrading?

2. How much space is lost in the base drawers (width and height) and pullouts with the inset? Trying to calculate for a 36" and a 28" drawer base and a 9" pullout.

3. I am thinking of doing inset on the perimeter and full overlay on the island to sort of "get the best of both". Would that look like a mismatch? Does it look better when the color is also different?
