RTA inset cabinets inset or full overlay?
Comments (42)Hi, I started using Conestoga back in 2010 when Casey was about the only one here who had them. I was nervous but took the plunge. Love their RTAâÂÂs! In my last house my husband and I built this kitchen with full overlays. The finish was still perfect three years later when I sold. In the house IâÂÂm in now we are doing inset cabinetry in the master bath. One is not harder than the other to assemble. Although I buy my cabinets from Chad at Cabinetmakerschoice the cabinetjoint has the best Conestoga assembly videos....See MoreInset uppers with full overlay lowers?
Comments (5)I've seen it done with inset uppers and frameless lowers, which basically look the same as full overlay---it looks lovely, and honestly I suspect that people who aren't TKO don't notice the difference much of the time. We are mixing inset and frameless too, though on different sides of the room rather than uppers/lowers. But I would think seriously about frameless vs. full overlay if your cabinet line offers that option---you'll pick up some storage space with the drawers, and you end up with essentially the same look. I love your blue range, too! :)...See MoreWood vs. full overlay laminate cabinets for new build
Comments (0)Hello, Designing our kitchen for our new build. I really like one of the gray colors of a laminate line, full overlay but not sure if wood is a better choice when it comes to quality, durability etc. What is your experience? We are going with the Aristokraft line of cabinetry....See MoreInset vs. Full Overlay
Comments (17)Our entire house was $25K but I'm rural Kentucky with an Amish cabinetmaker. So $40-60K is probably about right for where you are located. I would do full overlay. This was my second kitchen with it and I love the extra space it affords. You can extend your end panels and strategically place other filler panels and top and bottom molding to give your full overlay cabinets more of an inset look but still have the benefits of full overlay. I did that on our last kitchen but decided to forego it on this one as I found that over time the moldings were just another ledge to collect dirt and grime....lol. It is not uncommon for people to do inset on their uppers and full overlay on their lowers so that might of interest to you....See MoreDeck The Halls
