Natural Cherry Reveal - Photo Heavy
Comments (42)I really enjoyed reading your reveal. Read it on my iPad this morning lazing in bed and pored over it for a good 1/2 hour. It was more engaging than a book, lol. I totally LOVE your new kitchen, and this is one of the best reveals I've seen. Enjoyed reading the goals you had for the new kitchen, seeing how all your choices came together, the peeks inside your drawers and doors, and reading about the things you decided that others might consider crazy. Not crazy at all! The whole point of doing the research is to consider the alternatives and then choose what works for YOU. While I might not have made all those same decisions, you wouldn't have made the ones I chose either. That's rather the point, right? You don't live in my kitchen and I don't live in yours, LOL. There is something very freeing about deciding what works for you and just going regardless of trends. And I totally get where you're coming from on the slide in range with glass top. I've had a glass top range in the past and really liked it. Not everyone needs or wants a spendy induction or gas range so I say good for you!! Things I particularly admire: The new layout moving the fridge wall and getting a wider opening. The great new views from your sink and peninsula area -- what a difference that makes. Your drop-dead gorgeous cabinets! Your lovely granite. Drawers and the use of space -- the mostly 4-drawer bases without a lot of stacking was a wise choice. The new fireplace wall (wow, what a difference the black paint makes). And a small thing, but I like that you carried the toekick past the dishwasher, it looks really nice. Great job. Enjoy your new kitchen and may it bring you many years of new and happy memories!...See Moreremoving a rust stain from a quartz countertop
Comments (45)It might not be the finish that is damaged. The Brillo may have left a cloudy layer. Use a good, non-abrasive cleaning product (even just gentle dish soap and clean water). Scrub hard (but with a non-abrasive towel or sponge). Rinse very well after - even dish soap residue will dry cloudy on the surface. Odds are this will fix the issue. Try baking soda and water as well if you need to. You can get a more aggressive cleaner (Caeserstone recommends Soft Scrub gel cleaner with bleach). Important though that you never use an abrasive sponge (not even the scratchy side of a plastic sponge). If that fails, you can try polishers such as Quartz Renew or Granite Gold Quartz Brite. They don't actually polish though, they just give a temporary shine. Only a true mechanical polish will repair it if it is actually damaged. It would be something best left to the professionals (you risk overheating when you polish mechanically, which would cause other issues)....See MoreAnyone regret a gas cooktop?
Comments (47)Grew up with gas when you had to stick a lit match into a slot in the floor of the oven to light it... scary. Had pilot light that was ALWAYS on so very center of stove was always hot... at least too hot to touch and hot enough to actually keep stuff warm. After getting married, lived in an apartment that had electric and hated it. Can understand that electric is probably "safer" than gas. Electric oven was fine, in fact probably more consistent than gas? Have gas now. Planning a serious down-sizing within next 6-12 months. Going to an apartment again and will surely have to get used to electric all over again....See MoreFinished! Minimalist with MCM roots
Comments (115)margomnyc, sorry for the delay, I took a Houzz break after we finished. As far as the Neolith, we are really happy with it. We've had no chips thus far after 6+ of heavy use, and nothing has stained it. The satin finish is very nice -- not too shiny but it's not totally matte. I use glass cleaner to wipe it down as some other cleaners can leave streaks. Overall, I'd recommend it. oldbat2be, thank you, I'm glad to hear you like it! I could use a sous-chef and may take you up on that offer! ;)...See Morebossyvossy
